Job Description Summary
The Office of Admissions seeks a dynamic, energetic, equity-minded changemaker to serve as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Admissions Counselor based full-time remotely in New York City/Long Island or surrounding area. Reporting to the Associate Director of First-Year Admissions, this position is responsible for managing the Mid-Atlantic region for new student enrollment, supporting on-campus recruiting and admissions activities, reviewing admissions files, and contributing to the overall goals of the office and the University’s undergraduate enrollment goals.
The position provides innovation to Admissions regarding Diversity, Equity, Community, and Belonging. The Admissions Counselor is a First-Year team member responsible for counseling prospective applicants and their families. They serve as the HEOP liaison, sit on the review committee for Young Scholars, and support Community-Based Organizations and High Schools to bring prospective students on campus.
This position is also responsible for supporting the planning and executing of multiple bus trips to Nazareth and overseeing all virtual programs that support first-generation and underrepresented student enrollment.
A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required. Travel, a valid driver’s license, and access to a vehicle are required.
Essential Functions
Recruitment/ Territory Management:
Manage an assigned geographic territory and successfully engage in recruiting activities to attract, select, and enroll students from those areas.
Activities may include representing Nazareth at college fairs, conducting off-campus interviews, leading discussions at high schools, and other face-to-face communication.
In addition, this individual is responsible for updating and managing information regarding their territories through Slate.
Application Review and Process:
Review and manage admissions files and recommend admission to the Associate Vice President of First Year Admissions.
In addition, collaborate with other team members to ensure all the office’s admissions files get reviewed and assessed to meet deadlines.
This individual will also work with Visual and Performing Arts to coordinate auditions and reviews necessary for their applications.
Programming:
Manage all off-campus/ virtual recruitment events specific to the territory.
Engage in relationship-building activities with school and independent counselors on and off campus.
Successfully led on and off-campus information sessions to prospective students and their families to increase applications and yield.
Plan and execute an annual NYC bus trip in the Fall and Spring semesters.
SAAP Liaison:
Work collaboratively with the SAAP Office to identify HEOP and Young Scholars applicants.
Meet with Student Access and Achievement Programs staff to coordinate applications, relay updates, and coordinate application reviews.
Create and support first-generation initiatives of Nazareth applicants.
Coordinate recruitment activities for prospective HEOP students by traveling to New York State target areas, interviewing prospective students, participating in college fairs, etc.
Assist with application review and the preliminary assessment of prospective HEOP student academic and financial eligibility.

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree
1 to 3 years of combined internship, professional or work-experience
Superior customer service skills, professional, team player, goal-orientated, and willing to learn.
An ability to work independently and manage individual responsibilities is a must.
Comfort and aptitude in managing, manipulating, and analyzing data files such as Excel
Technical proficiency in standard business applications (MS Office Suite, Google, etc.) is a requirement
Valid Driver’s License
Exceptional organizational skills and be able to attend to and prioritize projects
Ability to successfully manage interpersonal working relationships.
As appropriate, collaborate with staff in other units and divisions to achieve the goals of the University.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Handles confidential information sensitively and appropriately.
