This position is routine work involving the responsibility of collecting and delivering mail, supplies, equipment and various materials to offices, buildings, cafeterias, post offices and other locations within a school district. The position involves the safe operation of a motor vehicle to carry out delivery aspects of the position. The incumbent also performs a variety of building cleaning activities and minor grounds keeping tasks. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with specific oral or written instructions.
PRIMARY WORK ACTIVITIES:
Typical activities characteristic of the class.Picks up mail and other communications for delivery to various offices, schools, and public buildings;
Picks up goods, supplies, and equipment at assigned posts within district and delivers to assigned post;
Loads and unloads food and non-food items for food service department and delivers food to satellite locations;
Check vehicle oil, gas mileage, and gasoline;
Maintains trip tickets, fuels vehicle, checks oil and water level, and notifies supervisor of needed maintenance;
Washes and cleans vehicles and suggests needed repairs;
Moves boxes or cases of materials from office to office;
Completes inventory of custodial supply list;
Does routine painting and cleaning as directed;
Sweeps and mops floors and stairs;
Washes windows, walls, blackboards, sinks and other fixtures;
Performs related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Applicants must meet Civil Service requirements
Education, specialized background, training and experience.
Valid New York State Driver’s License.
