The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago is a dynamicand stimulating place to work. We strive for the highest level ofcomplex care for children from diagnosis and treatment; provideoutstanding education and training for students, postgraduate scholars,and physicians; and nurture the research of Department scholars who seekto elucidate the causes of pediatric disease and identify promising newtherapies. In addition to our provision of clinical care at UChicagoMedicine (UCM) Comer Children's Hospital and at our regional sites, weare currently expanding our clinical care across Northern Illinois andNorthwestern Indiana in collaboration with our partners in theChicagoland Children's Health Alliance (CCHA; Advocate Children'sHospital, and NorthShore University Health System). CCHA hasresponsibility for the care of almost one million children. TheDepartment has six ambulatory sites and three inpatient sites of careacross the region with the goal of providing care 'close to home'whenever feasible.

This position will provide clinical support at the Department ofPediatrics' Tinley Park Pediatric Specialty Clinic. This is anoutpatient clinical office setting serving children aged 0-18 years.There are approximately a dozen specialists seeing patients for a widerange of services.
Job Summary
This position will provide day-to-day support in a specialty pediatricoffice. The appointee will assist providers in procedures,triage/rooming of sick children, basic point of care testing and patienteducation. In addition, this location has Medical Assistants working atthe front desk performing check in, scheduling, and registration asneeded.
Responsibilities
Know and practice the University of Chicago's Mission, Vision, andValues, and Patient Centered Care Definition and Principles.Perform any or all duties involving direct patient care as assignedby the registered nurse or physician and within the scope of theNursing policies and procedures.Appropriately implement and document patient and family education asdelegated by the RN or physician.Obtain and record vital signs.Perform Point of Care (POC) tests, specific to the patientpopulation.Document all aspects of patient care.Assist with collection of specimens. Perform labeling and logging ofspecimens in compliance with clinical standards.Collect and document vitals and chief complaint.Obtain current Medications.POC testing in clinic.Assist with basic procedures in clinic.Stock and clean exam rooms.Obtain medical records/results as needed.Vaccination services.Hearing and vision screenings.Supply inventory ordering/management.Completion of forms as needed.Assists in performing a range of patient care processes andprocedures, such as preparing patients' charts measuring andrecording patient vital signs, and assisting patients on/offstretchers, wheelchairs, and/or exam tables.Works within defined processes and appropriate patient care protocolrelating to the physical, psychological, and developmental needs ofthe patient.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications

Considerable skill in communicating verbally, in determining prioritiesand in organizing work; ability to maintain an organized, alphabetizedfiling system.
General working knowledge of PC. Excel, Microsoft Word for windows,OASIS and EPIC.
Immunization administration experience.
Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
Considerable skill in handling sensitive public contacts withdiscretion, tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, coworkers, andphysicians.
