Job Summary
Under general supervision, provides nursing support with various functionssuch as; screening, medication administration, treatments, vitals,and vaccinations. Assists the staff with clinical clerical functions. Ensuressmooth work and patient flow within the Denver Sheriff Health Services.
Essential Functions:
Accurately and efficiently takes vital signs and basic historical patientdata. Identifies abnormal patient findings. Communicates patient concerns orsignificant changes in patient's health status to provider or nurse. (10%)provides safe administration of medications and immunizations (oral, IM,subcutaneous, and/or intradermal); obtains EKGs, orders appropriatetests as directed by provider; and schedules specialty and follow-upappointments as directed by provider. (10%)Prepares patients for examinations, assists with examinations, cast orsplint applications, minor procedures a variety of other medically relatedtasks within their scope of knowledge. (10%)Documents accurately and appropriately in-patient medical record. (10%)Reports change in patient condition to appropriate health care provider in atimely manner. (10%)Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments/supplies.Prepares and maintains clinical and office supplies and equipment fortreatments, including sterilization and restocking of exam and treatmentrooms. (10%)Maintains a safe environment by practicing sound safety and infection controlpractices according to agency policies and procedures. Helps to identifysafety and infection control issues. (10%)Engages in performance appraisal on a routine basis by accepting and providingconstructive feedback and integrates feedback into practice. Participates incompetency reviews as required by department. Assumes accountability forachieving goals set jointly with the manager for the next evaluation period.Participates in the peer review process. (10%)May perform phlebotomy and perform various laboratory procedures aftercompetency verified. Maintains safe collection and processing of laboratoryspecimens. No High School Diploma and/or No GED Graduate from an accredited program inMedical Office Assisting, Required orNo High School Diploma and/or No GED accredited program of LicensedPractical Nursing with an active LPN license RequiredWork Experience:
less than 1 year Completion of a 160 hour externship Required orless than 1 year 6 month direct patient care in outpatient setting RequiredLicenses:
