Summary Underthe direction of the Clinic Supervisor, assists medical staff inexamination and treatment of patients. Maintains exam and treatmentrooms, operates medical equipment and gives injections and/ortreatments. Responsibilities Maintain supply and inventory for the examroom, in accordance with clinic and OSHA requirements. Review patientcharts for completeness, as well as order processing, for referrals,lab, x-ray, etc. Inform scheduled patients of any delays due tophysician\'s lateness, emergencies, schedule backup, etc. Log patientinformation in respective data banks (i.e. State Immunization TrackingSystem). Responsibly upkeeps and maintains patient care areas. Stockssupplies. Keeps Medical Assistant work area clean and tidy. Anticipatesneed for assessment and monitoring of patients prior to and duringexamination, treatment, emergency, acute illness or procedure. Preparesand assists patients for examination/treatment/procedure by medicalstaff. Greets, assesses, and interviews patients. Obtains past medicaland surgical history. Family history, social history, and complete setof vital signs. Reviews current medications, allergy history, chiefcomplaint, and brief interrogation of a complaint. Acts as liaisonbetween doctor and patient. Participates in training and skilldevelopment of new personnel. Floats to other areas as needed. Maintainspatient confidentiality. KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS Knowledge of injectionlevels and procedures, for both children and adults. Knowledge ofuniversal precautions and blood-borne pathogens. Ability to documentclearly, patient vital signs and chief complaint, as well as pay closeattention to charting detail. Ability to relate well to people fromdiverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
