GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
The Media and Academic Technologies Specialist supports set-up, operation, maintenance, and problem resolution of a variety of audio-visual hardware and systems used in classrooms and meeting rooms to facilitate engagement and learning, as well as in venues to support productions such as graduations, fashion show, award ceremonies, and various other special events, on the main Batavia campus as well as campus center satellites. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Specialist is responsible to set up, operate, maintain, and problem-solve a variety of AV equipment and systems.
Classrooms/Meeting Rooms. Technologies include projectors/TVs, computers and document cameras, video conferencing, switcher/presentation/audio hardware, Zoom, SoftLINK. Room sizes vary, with capacities ranging 12-200 persons. Faculty, staff, and visiting clients often operate static AV equipment in these spaces, but sometimes AV errors or user errors require immediate attention by MATS staff.
Mobile AV. Technologies include AV carts (TV, laptop, video conferencing hardware), live streaming boxes, projectors/screens, TV carts, prompter, audio speaker system. MATS staff support is frequently required to support end-users with this AV equipment.
Events: Technologies include projectors/TVs, computers, multiple cameras, audio systems, livestreaming, video cameras. MATS staff generally provide on-site support to all Events utilizing AV equipment, ranging from setting up, operating, and directing all aspects of AV to providing end-user support and troubleshooting/problem resolution.
Digital signage: Assist MATS team to support technical operations of the on-campus digital signage system (we use AxisTV by Visix) and occasionally help with content management
Video production and editing. Collaborate with our Marketing-Communications Office and other departments to co-create and edit videos for internal and external purposes.
Emerging Technologies. GCC is always exploring integration of emerging technologies to support engagement, learning, and success among those in the GCC community. We are currently investigating Extended Reality and Artificial Intelligence applications.

General Requirements and Teams
In addition to primary AV duties, the incumbent will perform other tasks within the MATS department, other Computer Services departments, the Computer Services division, and other college departments. These include:
Perform incidental duties associated with day-to-day functions of the offices of Computer Services, many of which entail front-line interaction with campus technology users, both in person and remotely. These tasks include but are not limited to resolving AV/computing problems for walk-in users, creating and resolving online help tickets, answering the telephone, taking messages, interacting with and overseeing vendors/contractors, and covering for staff absences
Cooperate and collaborate with other Computer Services departments (Banner/Applications, Networking, Servers/Systems, User Services) and other GCC departments on tasks, utilizing your skill sets
Participate in weekly 1:1 meetings and MATS team and monthly Divisional meetings, and any other meetings as may be assigned
Contribute to the creation and publication of knowledge base articles to document various how-to and procedural processes for various end-users
Provide training and support to other GCC faculty, staff, and students to successfully use AV equipment.
Participate in various professional development opportunities to build your AV knowledge and skills.
Participate in annual goal setting for the individual, the MATS department, and our division

Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Bachelor's degree required. (Associate's degree with three years' work experience will be considered.) Degrees in applied digital technologies field preferred." Experience setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting AV/Media hardware and systems (ideally in a higher education setting)?e.g., live streaming, audio systems, projectors, televisions, video cameras, presentation controllers/switchers, HDMI- and USB-extension solutions.
This is a hands-on position, requiring a person to apply people skills with technical know-how. That is, assist people to effectively use technologies along with being a capable technician able to understand, diagnose, and remedy technical problems, challenges, and questions. Competency in two or more technical areas such as the following is expected: Audio-Visual Technologies, Digital Media Technologies, Applied Computer Technologies, Academic Technologies, Video Production, Multimedia Design, Digital Communications. Competent written and oral communication and presentation skills; strong organizational skills; documented and demonstrated customer service orientation; ability to function at a high-level in a fast-paced environment; ability to collaborate with multiple departments/teams within and outside of the Information Technologies Services division; ability to work independently and as a member of a team to prioritize tasks and problem-solve; must demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of campus and department mission; is mindful of and supports accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically; ability to maintain flexible work schedule to accommodate service demands, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred
Directing and producing live streaming events, as well as video editing and creating are highly desired skills. Creston, Extron, and/or Biamp TesiraFORTE programming knowledge and experience are a plus. CTS certification is desired.

RELATIONSHIPS:
The Media and Academic Technologies Specialist reports to the Director of MATS and works collaboratively with ITS department and division colleagues, the Buildings and Grounds department, external contractors, and student workers.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time, year round position (including summers) at 35 hours per week and is compensated at a rate of $50,351.92 annually. Evening and weekend assignments will be required. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract.
