Mechanical Technician: Position Grade B.
Position Objective
Supervise and coordinate the efforts of the maintenance group to support the plat operations such as repairs, preventive maintenance improvement to equipment
Duties & Responsibilities
Consistently demonstrates safe work habits.
Adhere to all company rules and policies.
Completely understands the plant and department safety rules.
Demonstrate good housekeeping by insuring assigned area is kept clean.
Work efficiently with other employees in order to meet plant and department goals in safety, quality, production and housekeeping.
Ability to receive constructive suggestions
Follow oral and written instructions from higher management.
Work and cooperate with other departments within the plant.
Attends scheduled department safety and training meeting.
Ability to trouble shoot electrical problem on equipment ie.: Leistritx Extruder, PTI Pelletizer, Witte Classifier, Alar water treatment system and Accurate feeding system.
Perform vibration analysis on rotating equipment and identify abnormal levels.
Identify and understand the function of equipment.
Provide timely preventive maintenance support and records all test data.
Ability to properly fill out necessary paper work associated with work orders and historical files.
Make proper adjustments to equipment when deemed necessary.
Available for overtime, call-ins and rotating shifts.
Willingness to learn and upgrade skill level.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Identify and understand pipe, piping system and pipe fittings.
Properly select tools required for task being performed.
Must have regular, reliable attendance and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.
Physical and Visual Activity Required
Physical:
Climbing, ascending of descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc. using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist.
Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
Pulling using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Degree of lifting - 5-25 lbs. ; 26-50 lbs.; 51-100 lbs.; 101 lbs. or greater.
Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
Feeling, perceiving attributes of object such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work. Via face to face or telephone.
Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss at 500 Hz 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands and/or fingers. Example: filing, sorting mail and starting ignition of machinery.
Visual:
Machine operation, inspection, close assembly, clerical and administrative duties. Example: preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, date entry, CRT exposure, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, using measurement devices or fabrication of parts at distances close to eyes.
Machine operation and skilled trades, use of lathes, drills, presses power tools where seeing at a job is at or within arm reach
Mobil equipment operations, operate cars, trucks, buses, forklifts, cranes and high lift equipment.
Other criteria based on accuracy and neatness of work. Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth and perception.
Work Environment Conditions
Subject to inside environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily temperature conditions.
Subject to noise.
Subject to hazards of moving machinery.
Subject to possible exposure to chemicals, gases and high heat.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Vocational education desirable.
Minimum 1 years previous maintenance experience required.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Oversee the work of "B" and "C" mechanical technicians.
