Job Description:
Our client is currently has an exciting Mechanical Engineer- Project Manager opening in Jacksonville, FL. The Project Manager will primarily support the firm's US Post Office program, which consists of a wide range of project types, for the federal government, across the country. This person will be responsible leading design and engineering efforts. They will also perform project related responsibilities including facility assessments, feasibility studies, scope and criteria development, specifications, design, construction administration, and cost estimates. This position also includes the review of installation of mechanical systems for compliance with construction documents and other field support during construction.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Designated as Lead Mechanical Engineer, mentoring other mechanical staff.
Oversee heating-ventilation-cooling systems and plumbing systems upgrades/changes/repairs on US post office buildings across the country.
Coordinate with other disciplines and work in a team environment.
Prepare engineering drawings and technical specifications for various types of projects
Perform engineering studies, load calculations, life cycle costing and energy modeling, detailed design documents & specifications, and project cost estimates
Provide installation support services.
Develop system designs and sizes equipment, develop technical specifications
Prepare proposals, estimate, scope jobs, plan, and budget.
Control and/or review all project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates and reports. Responsible for quality control over the complete project.
Work on concurrent projects.
Provide technical leadership on design team
Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) Registration in Florida preferred
5 - 15 years relevant work experience, including HVAC and Plumbing engineering and project management experience.
LEED AP and/or Commissioning credentials are a plus
REVIT, AutoCAD, Inventor and Solidworks skills preferred
Specification writing skills required.
Strong written and oral presentation skills
Experience in a variety of project types, scale, and complexity. Judicial, Municipal, Educational, Transit, Aviation, and/or Federal Project experience is preferred
Experience working on concurrent projects, collaborating with multiple design disciplines, and technical production project experience.
Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
