JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB SUMMARY The Mechanical Designer is responsible formaintaining effective mechanical design bases for transformer layoutsand for providing technical expertise to customers both within andoutside of the organization. This role will review projects assigned tothem comparing customer specifications to other design data, noting anyinconsistencies or special requirements. The Mechanical Designer will beexpected to utilize any and all operating programs to functioneffectively. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Complete transformermechanical design including internal and external layout of componentsand accessories based on documentation provided in project designfolder, standard practices, and/or from technical advisors. Calculatedimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures orgeneral design knowledge of shop capabilities when standard proceduresdo not exist. Verify and update programs. Provide technical support andtraining of others. Assist the supervisor in the planning and schedulingof the design and detailing processes. Responsible for directing orexecuting corrective action when shop problems are encountered. Consultwith shop and QA personnel on interferences or interpretation ofengineering information. Assist on development projects as requested bysupervisor. This may also include completion of standard processes orpractices and computer programs. Recommend and develop new procedures toimprove the efficiency of the design and/or detailing process. Providesupport to Quote Designers, such as bid or preliminary outlines andmechanical optimization.
