TheCity of De Pere is seeking a Mechanic. This position will maintain,diagnose, repair, and overhaul City owned vehicles, trucks, and heavyand light duty mechanical equipment, including diesel and gas engines.Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Successfulcompletion of post high school courses in automotive mechanics ormechanical trades. 3. Two years of experience in mechanics. 4.Experience in diesel and gasoline engines. 5. Welding experiencepreferred. 6. Valid unencumbered Wisconsin Class \"B\" CommercialDriver\'s License with the air brakes, and safe driving record. 7.Ability to obtain \"N\" (tank vehicle) endorsement within six (6) monthsof hire. A combination of education and experience may be considered.The typical work schedule is Monday Thursday, 6:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m. andFriday, 6:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m., plus additional hours as needed foremergencies and snow plow operations. The City of De Pere recognizes theimportance of its employees having a proper work-life balance andsupports alternative work schedules (i.e., four 10-hour days or five8-hour days). In addition, new employees receive three weeks of vacationtime and four floating holidays per year beginning on the first day ofwork (prorated the first year). Salary: The full salary range for thisposition is \$28.34 - \$40.49 per hour, plus excellent benefits package.The anticipated starting salary is \$28.34 - \$34.01, depending onqualifications. The City of De Pere rewards employees for exceptionalwork performance with a pay for performance incentive program. Employeesmay be awarded a salary increase, bonus, or paid time off forexceptional work performance.
