Essential Functions· Prepare shipping documents for each domestic and international shipment using appropriate software (Syspro, StarShip, Shipping Solutions etc.).· Maintain records for export compliance.· Obtain parts from inventory to fill sales orders, carefully verifying identifying information and quantities.· Ensure packages are packed securely and appropriately based on the items being shipped. · Build crates for domestic and international shipments as needed.· Determine most appropriate method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, rates and priority of shipment.· Notify supervisor when major discrepancies occur, over-shipment or substitutions have been made.· Post shipments to customer orders. Upon completion of shipment, close out orders and forward documentation to accounting department.· On received goods, check and count all items unloaded, check suppliers' count and report discrepancies to carrier and to purchasing.· Verify Powell part numbers are on incoming packing slips; notify Purchasing of omissions by suppliers.· After physical counts have been verified, enter incoming shipments into the ERP system manually, or by utilizing a barcode scanner.· Label merchandise with Powell part numbers.· Change and update bins to provide for new items or additional space.· Maintain other shipping records such as goods returned.· Ensure stock items and special-order items are stocked in the appropriately marked bins/shelves, notify purchasing of receipt of order.· Collect information for damage claims on in-transit damage and process damage claims.· Communicate with customers and vendors in areas of troubleshooting and problem solving.· Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.· Will participate in production inventory control functions including physical counts of inventory as scheduled.· Identify, develop, and maintain effective relationships with carriers.· Evaluate carriers based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.· Serve as a backup for Purchasing and Materials Coordinator.· May direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.· May prepare shipping containers or shrink wrap equipment as needed for shipping.· Participate in training sessions, seminars and continuing education to stay abreast of new developments in domestic and international shipping requirements.Must always wear company approved safety equipment. Is responsible for notifying supervisor of defective safety equipment.
