JOB REQUIREMENTS: A Steel Handler is responsible for preparing customerorders for same-day or next-day delivery and placing the orders in thedesignated staging area. Handlers may also load material on designatedoutgoing carriers. Handlers manually handle and move freight, stock, andother light materials to and from storage, production areas, stagingareas, and delivery vehicles. Handlers operate overhead cranes andforklifts to assist with moving heavy material. Handler may assist inthe outside areas as needed setting-up orders, and emptying scrap/woodtubs. Handlers will load and unload company and non-company trucks.Handlers spend most of their day walking, carrying, lifting, and/orpushing steel. Handlers generally work eight-hour shifts, though longershifts may be common.Majority of the shift is spent indoors, buthandlers may spend some time outdoors as needed.
