This position is a customer facing part-time position with a minimum of10 hour and maximum of 20 hours a week. Definition Under the directionof Library Management, the Marketing Media Specialist will perform awide variety of support services that promote the library, itsactivities and fundraising events. The assignments include but are notlimited to: Planning and facilitating assigned activities and programs:Assemble information regarding requirements and costs of programmingcontent; Preparing marketing plan to promote activities, events andprogramming through print and social media; Confirm and coordinatearrangements with staff, management and providers as needed; Provideaudio/video aid and computer usage assistance to patrons, guests andperformers as needed. Manage set-up, tear down on date of activity orprogram; and Follow-up on any payments due to the library/donations orinvoices or payments from library. Assist with book displays andpromotional displays within the library on a wide variety of activities,topics and themes. Tasks include but are not limited to: Creating anddistributing library newsletter and subsets of news pamphlets and flyersto targeted interest groups; Updating and maintaining and schedulingConstant Contact mailing list and mailings; Updating Web Pages andlibrary website; Creating and processing press releases; Creating anddistributing staff communication with details for use in providingpatron assistance; Creating and processing social media updates(Facebook, Instagram, et al); Updating record keeping for all programs,events and activities; Maintaining copies of flyers and informationsheets on events for Circulation Desk reference. Researching andrecommending distribution outlets and mechanisms to increase awarenessof library content. This position would also be trained in theday-to-day operation of providing library material processing whichcould include but not limited to assisting patrons with use of publiccomputers, copiers and other office equipment. Recommended MinimumQualifications Education and Experience Minimum Associate degree inmarketing communication with 2 years of experience. Experience writingcontent for publication in status report, reports to patrons, trustees,letters to donors. Working knowledge and use of CANVA, Constant Contractand exposure to website utilizing store front payment processing.Knowledge of processing library materials and interfacing to patrons,donors and visitors is a plus. Strong knowledge of technology andcomputers, including the ability to use the Internet and email includingthe ability to research general information. Frequent use of socialmedia (Instagram, Facebook, et al). Knowledge and experience updatingwebsites, creating promotional materials including flyers, posters,press releases and instruction/informational sheets. Candidate of choicemust have the ability to deal effectively with the public andco-workers; ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composurewhen dealing with difficult patrons; ability to follow instructions, tomanage numerous diverse tasks at one time, and to complete projects ontime with minimum supervision. Excellent customer service skills; aprofessional demeanor and comportment; good verbal and writtencommunication skills; excellent organizational skills; able tomulti-task in a fast-paced environment.
