Tor Publishing Group, a division of Macmillan Publishers, is seeking a Digital Manager, Marketing to run Tor Books’ imprint social media channels and execute their digital marketing strategy. The Manager will primarily focus on the Tor Books imprint, but will also work to support their fellow digital marketing managers across our family of imprints (Bramble, Forge, Nightfire, Tor Teen, Starscape, and Tordotcom Publishing) on an as needed basis. We are seeking an enthusiastic, communicative, digitally savvy marketer with experience running a brand’s social media accounts and contributing to social media strategy. The Manager will report to the Senior Marketing Manager and collaborate with colleagues on TPG’s marketing, publishing, publicity, ad/promo, and sales teams. Some knowledge of science fiction and fantasy is required; formal work experience in the genre is a plus.
What you'll do:
Manage the digital and social media presence for Tor Books, in collaboration with the Senior Marketing Manager. Platforms are included but not limited to Twitter/X, Facebook, and Instagram.
Take ownership over the Tor blog by creating content, managing the calendar, and running the monthly blog meeting
Craft and deploy the Tor Books newsletter and any additional genre related e-blasts using our newsletter builder.
Work collaboratively across departments, including marketing, ad/promo, publicity, editorial, operations, and sales, by participating in team meetings, coordinating social media moments, and more.
Utilize consumer data to identify target audiences and how to reach them through social media
What You’ll Bring:
Prior experience managing a brand’s social media social media accounts. Experience in Twitter/X, Facebook, and Instagram are required.
Knowledge of and/or enthusiasm for genre publishing
Fluency in digital marketing initiatives and social media strategy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organization, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and work independently
Excellent communication and crisis management skills
Ideal Experience:
4+ years experience in marketing, preferably in book publishing
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Formal work experience in the science fiction and fantasy genre a plus but not required
Experience creating and deploying newsletters
Experience managing a blog
Experience with HubSpot and Emplifi is a plus
Thir role will have an annual salary will be $70k-$75k.
