Samtec is looking for a Manufacturing Production Operator to work on our FiberAttach product line. The position is for second shift in our ColoradoSprings, CO location. Second shift hours are M-F 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM.1. This position starts out as temporary. There is opportunity for full timestatus after an evaluation period and if the business needs align.2. Pay is $18.25 - $ 18.75 per hour plus 10% shift differential and iscommensurate with experience.3. As a Fiber Attach (FA) operator, the main objective will be to prepareoptical cable for the attach process, attach the cable to an opticalconnector and perform required testing and inspections on assemblies.Essential Functions/Responsibilities:1. Be able to heat strip, cleave and inspect fiber2. Attach optical cable to connectors3. Perform measurements, alignment and testing of optical cable4. Have a good understanding of the work instructions that apply to the area5. Read, comprehend and be able to build orders according toinformation/specifications found on blueprints and PICS6. Must be familiar with all equipment and tooling and understand how and whyit is used in the assembly process7. Must be able to use a microscope for extended periods of time8. Maintain in process workflow in a lean manufacturing environment9. Must a have a quality mindset throughout all processes10. Communicate effectively with co-workers (both written and verbal)11. Must have patience with new, tedious processes and have the creativemindset to suggest ideas for improved processes and tooling12. Must be willing to pay attention to detailThe responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guidelinefor this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasksdepending on strengths andcapabilities.
Required Experience:1. One Year Production/Manufacturing experience.2. Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations. Maybe exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear). May be exposed toHazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and otherprotective gear).Physical Requirements:1. Steady hands2. Good hand/eye coordination3. Ability to work in a clean work environment.4. Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and notsuffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.Preferred Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.
