  *Wage (gross) and other rewards: * Minimum 2250€ / monthly (depending on experiences and quality of the candidate) + Annual global incentive plan-bonus and other benefits in compliance with social benefit program of the company.

  About the role:

  As a member of the Global Process Development Capability Center within Convatec’s Technology and Innovation group the Manager – Research and Development Engineering based in Slovakia enables new product development within the Ostomy Care business unit by working cooperatively with R&D and Operations to design and develop manufacturing processes. The Manager´s primary responsibility is to serve as the lead Process Development engineer within cross-functional new product development teams. In addition, the Manager is also responsible for managing other Process Development engineers to deliver a broader portfolio of projects for the Ostomy Care business unit. In this capacity, the Manager will prioritize projects, manage the resources to deliver on them, and serve as a liaison to cross-functional stakeholders.

  Your key duties and responsibilities as a Manager – Research and Development Engineering:

  Process Engineering Responsibilities:

  Lead the design and development of manufacturing processes from conception and process technology selection through scale up, process characterization, and transfer to operations.

  Work together with product development engineers to optimize new concepts’ designs for manufacturability (DFM).

  Build prototypes and conduct proof-of-principle, pilot-scale manufacturing trials.

  Use in-depth process knowledge to help inform process FMEAs (failure mode and effects analysis), set realistic tolerances, devise sampling plans, and the like.

  Apply modern engineering theory, critical thinking, and statistical analysis to structure problem solving and process design optimization.

  Managerial Responsibilities:

  Evaluate new projects’ resource requirements; estimate realistic times to completion.

  Prioritize resource deployment in alignment with stakeholders’ priorities and overall business impacts.

  Manage within annual budgets and headcount plans.

  Develop clear and concise reporting of the team’s activities, priorities, and project statuses, and develop a cadence of regular communication to stakeholders.

  Develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with all key internal and external organizational stakeholders.

Working in a dynamic environment, you know how to drive and follow up on the cross-functional team’s contributions to the design control documentation, prioritizing your tasks to meet the agreed project timelines and adherence to the process.

  You build positive working relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, and you relentlessly seek better ways of doing things. You have an analytical mindset, you learn fast, and you apply structure to your work. You have experience in leading a team, and you have a natural focus on team deliverables as the player-coach of a group of highly skilled individuals.

  You have excellent technical and non-technical communication skill in English, both written and verbally.

  Education / Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s degree in science and/or Engineering (or equivalent).

  Experience working within the Medical Device or equivalent regulated industry in an Engineering-biased role with a proven track record of delivery excellence.

  Experience managing technical teams.

  Ability to understand business and operational objectives, and to prioritise high volume and complex workloads accordingly.

  Demonstrable experience of on-time delivery of complex technical projects and activities

  Demonstrable depth of experience with processes and technologies.

  Knowledge of Design Control Frameworks – preferred.

  Experience with Product & Process Validation activities.

  Working Conditions:

  Work in office environment, production centers and laboratory.

  Availability to travel, up to 15 travel days annually.
