The Company is part of Nuveen, a leading global investment manager with over $1 trillion of assets under management. Glennmont has raised circa €4bn for investment in onshore and offshore wind, photovoltaic and bioenergy power generation assets since its inception.
The Company’s core teams focus on clean energy equity investments, credit investments, and asset & portfolio management. Glennmont Partners is expanding, currently preparing other products for market launch in 2024 and beyond. The team comprises approximately 60 professionals evenly split between the investment team and the asset management team.
As part of its ongoing expansion, the Company is looking to hire a manager on the equity investments side.
The M&A Manager will provide transaction support of a broad range to Investment Directors and Managing Directors within the equity investment team. The job will be focussed on transaction origination and execution, but will also offer the opportunity to take a broader role in the negotiation and closing of deals and in post-transaction asset management support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the origination, analysis, and execution of European renewables investments.
Modelling and investment proposals
Understand and optimise the project contractual structures
Define, document, and monitor all project assumptions
Understand and analyse project SPV financial statements
Produce and develop of cash flow based financial models for renewable energy generation projects / assets valuation
Analyse and interpret results from the financial model, run sensitivities to help with the assessment of the investment case
Draft investment proposals and investment committee presentations with support and input from investment directors
Support in training Analysts and other junior staff on developing modelling skills
Transaction support
Support origination activities with renewable project developers in EU 27 and UK economies
Drive and assist in the execution of deals (acquisitions, project financing, divestments
Project manage transactions and coordinate work products from external advisors (developers, lawyers, technical advisors, debt providers, EPC contractors, etc.)
Develop proprietary pipeline of potential transactions based on a network of contacts, with autonomy from, but transparency to, the team
Market monitoring
Support in liaising with renewable energy and clean tech organisations
Conduct research on selected sectors, countries or market segments to identify potential investment opportunities
Follow regulatory development in the renewable energy sectors (regulatory framework, tariffs, EU targets, etc.)
Fund Level Support
From time to time the role will entail offering support to other teams with Fund level activities. Such activities may include:
Production of marketing materials for fund raising campaigns
Compilation of VDD materials for prospective LPs and support in due diligence processes
Miscellaneous additional activities associated with business development
Other
Support with raising financing activities
Support with model audit
Provide assistance in transaction administration, ensuring compliance of internal procedures
Candidates must be competent to build and operate detailed financial models; manage legal, technical, regulatory and commercial due diligence with appropriate understanding; have significant understanding of the political and environmental relevance of the energy sector. Prior project and transaction experience is required, however the candidate may have experience from a previous role at a in project developer, renewable energy technology provider or OEM.
Favoured characteristics include:
Min. 6 years relevant working experience in either a utility/IPP, investment manager, project developer, technology provider or OEM
Transaction experience (from origination to execution)
Significant financial modelling expertise required
Relevant experience of power industry required
Fluent English required with additional European languages preferred (Nordic and/or French)
Candidates to be based in either London and must have the right to work in the UK
Demonstrable network of contacts among the universe of project sponsors
Power industry background is an advantage
Interest in the renewable energy sub-space is a prerequisite
Experience in investment appraisal, tax structuring
Sound and solid financial toolkit (building models, analysing financial statements, performing valuations, structuring deals)
