  Job Description

  Position Overview

  As a Manager, Environmental Compliance and Strategy, you will beresponsible for assisting Invenergy\'s in-house environmental team insupport of responsible development, construction and operation ofutility-scale wind and solar energy facilities across the US. You willlead all aspects of environmental compliance, including due diligence,planning, permitting, and compliance for a dedicated portfolio oflarge-scale wind and solar projects. To fulfill these duties, you willcollaborate with internal project teams such as development,engineering, and construction management; external teams likeenvironmental, engineering and external legal counsel; and externalstakeholders such as state/federal resource agencies, privatelandowners, and conservation organizations. The ideal candidate will bean organized and collaborative self-starter with a keen attention todetail, with the ability to handle multiple projects at various stagesof development, construction, and operations.

  The position will have geographic focus on projects in the Southeastregion.

  Responsibilities

  Develop and implement environmental survey and permitting strategiesfor a portfolio of wind and solar projects in various stages ofdevelopment, construction, and operations.Manage internal and external environmental compliance processes thatrequire regular communication with the project team and thirdparties, and the development of a complete and organized projectrecord to demonstrate compliance with federal and state wildliferegulations.Oversee the development of necessary documents for compliance withfederal, state, and local regulations, and federal and statepolicies and guidance during project siting, construction, andoperations.Lead federal and state regulatory agency consultation and eNGOoutreach.Review technical reports provided by consultants. Reports typicallyinclude but are not limited to: habitat evaluations, desktopenvironmental screenings, threatened/endangered/sensitive speciessurveys, wetland delineations, avian and bat use surveys, andpost-construction monitoring studies.Review the environmental sections of local and state siting/specialuse permit applications. Lead on the development and review of waterresource and threatened/endangered species permit applications.Prepare for and appear as the environmental subject matter expert incounty and state zoning and permitting hearings; provide thoroughand accurate testimony on behalf the project.Conduct environmental due diligence for development and acquisitionopportunities.Prepare project marketing materials in response to customer RFPs.Identify and communicate project needs, schedules, and risks acrossproject support teams. Work collaboratively and efficiently withinternal teams and external parties (e.g., consultants) to executeproject work on schedule, and develop strategies to addressenvironmental-related issues.Guide environmental compliance for projects transitioning fromdevelopment through construction, including the preparation forcivil construction activities and oversight of an environmentalcompliance monitor throughout the 12+ months of construction.Participate in regional and national initiativ s, symposia,conferences, and industry groups as needed to achieve Companyobjectives.Maintain comprehensive knowledge of environmental policy, regulationand compliance that affect permitting and impacts on project sitingand compliance.Minimum qualifications

  Bachelor\'s degree or higherExperience and expertise interpreting federal and stateenvironmental laws (ESA, NEPA, CWA), guidelines, and policies, anddeveloping project strategies for compliance with the same.5-7 years in renewable energy or 8+ years in a similar industry withexperience managing responsibilities similar to those listed above.Must be self-directed and detail oriented, with the ability anddesire to work effectively in a team environment.Able to act and adapt to a fast-paced business environment withcompeting deadlines, and quickly learn and implement internalprocesses.Strong attention to detail, assuring documents and communicationsare concise and accurate.Ability to navigate ArcGIS and Google Earth to interpretenvironmental spatial data and identify potential project risks.Must be willing to travel as needed (20%), depending on the needs ofthe project.Preferred qualifications

  Advanced degree in biological science/natural resources/environmentalpolicy or environmental law degree
