  Job Summary:

  The Community Prevention Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a community coalition in Newark s South Ward and collaborating with coalition members to plan and implement data-driven and evidence-based substance-use prevention strategies chosen to meet the needs of the county served. The Community Prevention Manager cultivates relationships with key stakeholders across all sectors of the community, assessing the needs and resources of the community to identify and implement culturally appropriate policies and/or programs and environmental strategies to effect community-level change.

  Job Responsibilities:

  Lead the coalition through the Communities That Care, CTC, planning and implementation process through the CTC Milestones and Benchmarks, including but not limited to collecting, organizing and analyzing data; community outreach; and public relations

  Coordinate and facilitate Coalition and Workgroup meetings, CTC workshops, trainings, and prevention outreach efforts with the support of the CTC Coach

  Recruit and maintain a diverse Coalition membership with representation from all identified sectors of the community

  Maintain all program records in a professional and timely manner in accordance with programmatic requirements as well as state funders monthly and quarterly reports

  Perform other duties as assigned

  Education/Experience:

  Bachelor's degree in public health or related field

  Must obtain certification as a prevention specialist, CPS, within three years of hire and pursue ongoing training and education

  In lieu of the CPS include: Certified Health Education Specialist, CHES, Master s degree in Public Health, MPH, doctoral degree in medical, health, or behavioral science

  Minimum one year related experience and/or training in coordinating a community-based coalition

  Experience with community-level substance-use prevention

  Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs

  Bilingual a plus

  Special Equipment/Skills:

  Experience with community-level substance-use prevention

  Knowledge of Communities That Care prevention operating system, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, SAMHSA

  Strategic Prevention Framework, and Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, CADCA, Seven Strategies for Community-Level Change

  Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods such as surveys, key informant interviews, and focus groups

  Minimum one year prior experience managing and supervising individuals and/or teams preferred

  Prior experience with interagency collaboration as well as external collaboration within the system at large

  Excellent verbal communication skills, including one-on-one, public speaking, and informative presentations

  Responsible, dependable, self-disciplined, and takes initiative and always strives to exceed expectations

  Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to contribute to newsletters, curriculum development, and grant applications

  Good interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and an ability to work with diverse populations, including young children, adolescents, parents, professionals, and older adults

  Knowledge of municipalities, schools, and other community agencies and systems

  Ability to work well independently, as part of a team, and in diverse professional and community environments

  Ability to cross-check and coach and provide 5:1 feedback with colleagues and direct reports

  Well-organized and adaptable, with attention to detail and creativity

  Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development/training, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

  Commitment to the missions of the Institute for Prevention and Recovery
