The Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations is seeking candidates for a Lottery Field Supervisor. This is administrative work of a supervisory nature in planning and directing the lottery field staff throughout the State. Responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to increase lottery ticket sales. Work involves providing oversight to field staff, coordinating promotional information, resolving difficult agent problems, and training subordinate staff. Work is performed under limited supervision.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Oversees, coordinates, reviews, and appraises the work of subordinate field staff in ticket distribution, inventory control, and accountability in order to ensure adherence to administrative policies and procedures.
Trains staff in order to enhance job knowledge and proficiency.
Resolves complicated or difficult retailer problems referred by field or management staff in order ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
Works collaboratively with the lottery gaming system vendor to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained at retail establishments, service calls are responded to in a timely manner and retailers are satisfied with overall service.
Reviews and develops territorial divisions of staff to ensure operational efficiency.
Works collaboratively with lottery games manager in the development of new games.
Identifies, researches, and recommends promotional marketing opportunities in order to encourage sales growth.
Implements and complies with human resource laws, policies, procedures, and practices such as: AA/EEO, recruitment, employment, position classification, performance appraisals, training, discipline, contract administration, human resource components of security protocols of agency information security and confidentiality policies, and employee safety.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGES:
Knowledge of sales techniques and practices.
Knowledge of business administration principles and practices. Knowledge of training principles and practices.
Knowledge of lottery guidelines, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of ticket allocation and systems procedures.
Knowledge of lottery promotional materials. Knowledge of research techniques.
Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data. Ability to negotiate and resolve difficult situations. Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to write clearly and effectively.
Ability to supervise subordinate employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or directly related field plus 1 year of supervisory experience; or
five (5) year combination of experience, education, and training in sales, marketing, business, or related area including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
