About Logging Supervisor - Princeton, BC

  Weyerhaeuser Princeton Timberlands is accepting applications for the position of Logging Supervisor based out of our Timberlands office in Princeton, British Columbia.

  As the successful candidate you will be part of an empowered and professional team that manages forestry operations in the Nicola, Similkameen and Okanagan Regions of Southern British Columbia. The team is responsible for providing the Weyerhaeuser sawmill and other wood using facilities in the region with 1.0 million m3/year of wood from TFL 59, forest licenses, management agreements and wood purchases.

  In collaboration with indigenous communities, our operation is quite broad in scope managing all aspects of forest management. Our staff of professionals is engaged in safety, forest stewardship plans, cutting permit and road development, site plan and silviculture prescription development, logging and road construction supervision, contract rate negotiation, financial analysis, forest certification, GIS, wildfire preparedness and response, log purchase and sales.

  Key Functions:

  Your assignment will be based out of our Princeton office working within the Operations Team reporting to the Operations Superintendent. The Operations Team is responsible for timber harvest & haul and associated road development and maintenance activities. As part of this team your specific duties would include: * Providing safety leadership within Weyerhaeuser as well as amongst contractors, * Ensuring compliance with safety, contractual and environmental management systems, * Supervising contractors conducting harvesting, road construction and maintenance activities, * Developing harvest and log delivery schedules and cost forecasting, * Negotiation of contracts and road maintenance agreementsOther duties may include log purchase and sales, equipment productivity studies and rate modeling, cycle time management, log truck and harvesting equipment telematics analysis, waste & residue management, scaling management, fire preparedness, environmental audits, etc.

  Demonstrated leadership in safety.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, and develop effective working relationships.Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.Strong analytical and organizational skills.Results orientated and an ability to manage multiple priorities.Working knowledge of forestry legislation.Registered, or immediately eligible (within 6 months) for registration, as either a Registered Professional Forester or a Registers Forest Technologist, with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC).A preference of a minimum of 5 years’ experience in forest operations or operational planning, however, candidate with lesser experience may be considered.Compensation:

  This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $81,600 - $117,361 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

  Retirement:

  Nonunion Canadian employees are automatically enrolled in our Defined Contribution Pension Plan, which includes a paid company match up to 6%, in addition to a company contribution equaling up to 7.25% of your base salary. Employees are also eligible to enroll in the Retirement Savings Plan (Group RRSP).

  Situated at the confluence of the Similkameen and Tulameen Rivers, Princeton is an hour away from the south Okanagan and 3 hours from the Lower Mainland.
