Legal Senior Counsel

　　What You Will Achieve

　　As part of our Japan team, you will be based in our Tokyo office:

　　Provide legal support, advice, guidance to designated functions of Estee Lauder Japan Affiliate and One Japan (as team evolves) on various types of legal issues (especially Labour Law, Privacy Data, Marketing, Intellectual Property, Commercial, Retail, Distribution, E-Commerce, Corporate Governance).

　　Advice, draft, review and negotiate all legal related issues for business contracts and transactions including but not limited to corporate governance, compliance, licensing agreements, distribution, retail agreements, leases, digital activities, contentious matters, litigation, intellectual property, and marketing/advertising law etc.

　　Ensure to implement legal policies and guardrail and review standards in line with APAC Regional and Corporate Legal policies for Japan business affiliate and One Japan operation.

　　Guide and work with Japan business affiliate and One Japan operation clients on their corporate governance documents management and renewal matters.

　　Work with external counsel when needed and overlook its service to meet our legal function’s goals on cost and quality management for our business.

　　Provide business clients education and training on relevant legal issues, develop processes and forms to support Japan business affiliate and One Japan’s needs.

　　Coordinate and manage outside law firms with respect to litigation, government inquiries and investigations.

　　Understand in depth business dynamics, new regulation, and legislative trend of Japan market so to effectively partner with business to advise and consult with all levels of the organization including senior leadership to identify critical legal issues, assess potential legal options, and provide individuals and teams with risks and legal analysis and pragmatic legal solutions.

　　Qualifications

　　What You Will Need

　　A combination of top-tier law firm and in-house experience is preferred, as well as experience working for a western based company.

　　Experience in complex commercial, distribution, retail, Intellectual Property contracts, corporate compliance, marketing claims, digital E-Commerce regulations, governance, and litigation. Solid understanding and experience in general privacy and labor law issues advice to the business for Japan market.

　　Experience in internal investigation for compliance violation matters.Strive for work efficiency with solution to build or improve operation process.

　　Team player. Business savvy and be able to collaborate effectively and proactively with international and cross-functional teams. Proactive in taking on responsibilities and deliver results.

　　Strong communication skills to all levels of business counterparts. Translate legal advice into context that can be easily understood by non-legal background businesspersons.

　　Multinational Cosmetic and/or OTC industry, FMCG experience highly desirable

　　Admitted to practice laws in any jurisdiction with 10 years of in-house experience in Japan.

　　Fluent in written and spoken English.
