Serves as an inclusive collaborator and liaison between multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure an efficient and compliant experience. Supports the application and communication of pertinent policies and procedures, and ensures benefits are handled correctly Work Environment: Hybrid Position Salary range is $56K - $60K Job Duties Leave Administration 65% Administers sick leave, Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), parental leave, short and long term disability, military (long term), and personal leave of absences. Ensures leave programs are administered in a manner that promotes equity across the System Completes related actions in PeopleSoft lifecycle transactions in various mediums as required by established policies, regulations, and laws; evaluates utilization trends from tracking reports and dashboards Receives employee inquiries via an ACD (Automated Call Distribution) system and enters cases into the CRM Tracks all stages of the leave process and coordinates with DRC to ensure appropriate accommodates are provided Documents, audits, and requests required documentation for eligibility or needed updates as required by established policies and procedures Communicates with benefits and payroll staff to ensure coordination Provides support and coordinates with staff regarding leave of absences and affiliated programs Communicates with HRBP, employee, third party administrators, and manager throughout the leave process regarding eligibility, approval, low balance, return to work process, and extension Develops and generates reports to measure and analyze utilization and other trends As an individual contributor, role models UMN commitment to creating an inclusive work environment and fostering a caring culture Compliance 15% Receives and responds to individual requests and inquiries according to established policies, procedures, regulations, and laws Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files. Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations Professional Development 10% Completes professional development, education, and training activities, consistent with managing the responsibilities of the position. Completes continued learning and development appropriate to work duties and for the pursuit of individual, unit, and institutional success. Participates in staff development based on individual need including ongoing skills training, DEI development, professional learning, service & scholarly activity, and engagement & well-being Strategy and Problem Solving 5% Contributes to the development of strategies for reasonable accommodations Participates in the investigation and resolution of complex, non-routine problems Other duties as assigned 5% Physical Demands The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This role routinely requires operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery. Qualifications Qualifications Required: BA/BS degree in Human Resources or related field plus two years of professional HR related work experience, or a combination of related education and professional HR work experience to equal six years. Experience with leave principles, practices, procedures, and documentation. Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of principles and processes for providing equitable cu tomer and personal services. Ability to maintain and foster inclusive relationships within, across, and external to organizational boundaries. Focus on compliance to ensures policies, practices and procedures are upheld to maintain institutional compliance Experience using organizational knowledge to understand the vision, mission, and values of an organization in order to achieve success. Evidence of effective communication that provides regular, consistent, and meaningful information both written and verbally; ability to listen carefully to others and ensure messages are understood. Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and technology systems and workplace terminology.
