  You’d like to do this

  BlueHalo is seeking a lead engineer to join our space technologies team. As the lead engineer, you will play a critical part in technology and product development of precision optical pointing and tracking systems including gimbals and fast steering mirrors needed for laser communications and remote-sensing payloads.

  Responsibilities

  Provide technical leadership to a multidisciplinary engineering team in the design, build, and qualification of new space-capable precision opto-mechanical systems including gimbals and fast steering mirrors.

  Understand the big picture as well as fine details to make technical decisions, sometimes in situations in which a complete set of data is not available.

  Be responsible for technical systems engineering including architecture development, requirements flow-down, and test planning.

  Work with the division technical director to drive innovation in product development including advanced materials, analysis methods, and system architecture.

  Be responsible for technical risk management including developing risk mitigation strategies.

  Act as primary point of contact for technical communication with customers, both for existing programs and new work.

  Be responsible for technical proposal development.

  Mentor junior engineering staff members and promote a culture of continuous learning.

  You’re required to have this

  Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field.

  At least 5 years of experience with design and analysis of space components, assemblies, and systems.

  At least 5 years of experience with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. Solidworks, ANSYS)

  Leadership and management skills as demonstrated by prior role(s) as lead engineer or engineering manager and execution of one or more programs from start to finish.

  Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) as demonstrated by experience with multiple design review meetings or similar report/presentation scenarios.

  Problem solving mindset.

  Ability to work on-site in Albuquerque full-time.

  Supervisory Responsibility

  Oversee a team of engineers based in a matrix structure.

  The position does not have direct supervisory responsibility, but the candidate will be expected to communicate tasking closely with the engineering leads.
