Position DescriptionCold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a server for its general dining services. The responsibilities for this position include preparing and serving food for general dining, events, and other related food service functions.

　　Position Responsibilities-Preparing and serving food for catering & events services

　　-Maintaining and stocking service lines, beverage stations, and refrigerated areas

　　-Follow proper sanitation and food handling procedures

　　-Train, instruct, and supervise seasonal staff as required

　　-Operate cash register for general dining food lines

　　-Provide job assignment status feedback to the Supervisor of General Dining Services

　　-Interact in a courteous manner with clientele, fellow employees, and other supervisors

　　-Provide inventory and product usage information to the General Dining Services Supervisor

　　-Collect weekly cash receipts and maintain the Point of Sale bank

　　Position RequirementsEducation: High School diploma or equivalent

　　Experience: One-year in commercial food handling preferred

　　Knowledge/Skills:

　　- Knife Skills

　　- Basic equipment operation & safe handling practices

　　- Cold food preparation and serving

　　- Proper sanitation procedures

　　- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.

　　- Proficient in Outlook and Excel preferred.

　　- Knowledge of a point-of-sale system preferred.

　　- Nassau County Department of Health sanitation certificate preferred.

　　- Ability to understand the Spanish language is helpful.

　　Working Conditions:

　　- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

　　- Constant standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and turning.

　　- Receiving of information through oral communication and a computer.

　　- Exposure to heat and noise.
