  Description

  Summary

  The Lead Associate, IT Infrastructure Operations is responsible for supporting the IT Network Engineer & Security Team with various technical responsibilities across all areas. Tasks and areas of work will span across security, network, system administration, customer support, and maintenance for our various technical platforms and solutions used across Save the Children.

  What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  Network Administration (35%)

  Supports networking environment by implementing system configuration according to design; executing system installation; following system standards.

  Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; performing upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.

  Secures network system by enforcing policies; monitoring access.

  Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  Enables business continuity capabilities for technical infrastructure.

  Provide technical services and support for the following areas:

  Network level: WAN, LAN and WLAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security appliances

  Internal systems, Network Infrastructure, Unified Communication Platforms.

  Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications

  Physical environment: SAN Technologies, Server Infrastructure, Backup Appliances

  Backups of critical data according to regulatory and business requirements

  AV and conferencing solutions for SCUS locations and remote staff

  Perform network assessments and security audits.

  Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review.

  Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure.

  Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.

  Assist with Level 2 and 3 support for ticket resolution as needed.

  Systems Administration (35%)

  Implementing SA-related solutions according to design for various project and operational needs.

  Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

  Data Center Support for SAN, CUCM, Vmware, Head Start Open Mesh Networking.

  Maintain installation and configuration procedures.

  Contribute to and maintain system standards.

  Operations and Support (15%)

  Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

  Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

  Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

  Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.

  Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.

  Provide Level 2 and 3 support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.

  Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

  Maintenance (15%)

  Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure new services as necessary.

  Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.

  Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

  Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure Virtual machines, CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

  Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

  Required Qualifications

  Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience

  Demonstrated experience in the area of network and/or systems administration

  Professional level of specialized knowledge to manage complex tasks, programs or projects

  Professional proficiency in MS Office suite

  Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

  Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally

  Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging

  Preferred Qualifications

  Experience in customer-facing IT support roles

  Network and/or systems administration preferably using Microsoft and Cisco products

  Compensation

  Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $66,300 – $74,100 base salary

  Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $60,350 – $67,450 base salary

  Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $54,400 – $60,800 base salary

  Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program. Save the Children also offers paid vacation, accrued at least 12 days a year, depending on paygrade and length of service, paid safety and wellness leave of at least 1 day per month worked for a full time employee which is pro rata reduced for employees working less than a full time schedule, and at least 10 paid holidays a year. Employees may be eligible for additional bonus compensation.
