  About the Team:

  Our global legal team provides key support for all of TikTok's innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal guidance and support. The TikTok team is growing fast and is seeking highly experienced, bright and capable legal professionals to join the team. One of the current critical challenges is the need for our team to provide exceptional legal support for Trust & Safety and Regulatory work and teams.

  Responsibilities:

  - Serve as part of a team providing support for the T&S business team, principally focused on the Legal Policy Operations (LPO) team and Law Enforcement Response Team (LERT), and work on associated and related regulatory matters;

  - Support the public policy, T&S, and communications teams in responding to inquiries from legislators, regulators, law enforcement, and the press.

  - Work closely with the public policy team on legislative proposals and developments impacting user safety, with a focus on issues such as child safety and drug trafficking.

  - Work closely with legal and product teams globally to review products, features, new applications and initiatives to provide legal risk mitigation strategies to ensure legal compliance for products from a US legal perspective with a focus on security and user safety;

  - Coordinate with product, product operations, public policy, communications, and other cross-functional colleagues on external communication, policy and feature development, and enforcement decisions.

  Qualifications

  Qualifications

  - Bachelor's degree plus a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school

  - Member in good standing of the California or New York bar

  - Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience, ideally including experience with working with international teams in non-US markets in a cross-functional environment

  - Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills in a cross-functional and global role

  - Ability to understand and resolve complex legal and business issues

  - Ability to manage multiple complex projects at any given time, and demonstrate initiative in problem solving, fact-finding, and driving projects forward to completion.

  - Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and working on cutting-edge legal, regulatory, and policy matters in an ever-changing landscape.

  - Strong analytical, communication, and client interaction skills.

  - Common sense, top-notch judgment, and demonstrated ability to work independently while simultaneously contributing successfully to cross-functional teams.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  - Experience as in-house and/or outside counsel advising technology companies on law enforcement response, trust and safety, and related matters, or analogous government experience, including work for a federal or state legislative body. Experience in responding to regulatory (at international, federal, state, and/or local level) inquiries a plus.

  Job Information

  [For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

  The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $190000 - $319000 annually.

  Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

  We cover 100% premium coverage for employee medical insurance, approximately 75% premium coverage for dependents and offer a Health Savings Account(HSA) with a company match. In addition to Flexible Spending Account(FSA) Options like Health Care, Limited Purpose and Dependent Care.

  Our time off and leave plans are: 10 paid holidays per year plus 17 days of Paid Personal Time Off (PPTO) (prorated upon hire and increased by tenure) and 10 paid sick days per year as well as 12 weeks of paid Parental leave and 8 weeks of paid Supplemental Disability.

  We also provide generous benefits like mental and emotional health benefits through our EAP and Lyra. A 401K company match, gym and cellphone service reimbursements. The Company reserves the right to modify or change these benefits programs at any time, with or without notice.
