Description
Collects and sorts clean and soiled Laundry. Inspects linen as handled; removes stained, torn or worn pieces for reprocessing or repairs.
Moves clean linen, damp or dry, within Laundry area using carts, tables or trucks.
Assists in loading, hanging and sorting wash linen uniforms into Steam Tunnel machine.
Load and unloads washers when necessary.
May operate one or more automatic machines in the performance of duties.
Makes up linen quotas for exchange carts; delivers linen to various units and clinics.
Pushes buttons to start and stop machines on signals or lights.
Sorts, folds and stacks processed linen on shelves.
Notes and keeps simple tally records of quantities or types of laundry processed, used, or issued.
Feeds spreader and flatwork ironers and also receives work from crossfolder.
Sweeps and mops laundry area and chute rooms.
Removes clean/soiled linen form units throughout the Medical Center when necessary or required by operational needs.

BASIC COMPETENCIES
Education:
High School graduation or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
6 months-1 year laundry experience preferred.
Skills:
Familiarity with of automatic washing machines.
Good oral communication skills.
Must pass basic arithmetic skills test.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
