　　The Lactation Education Specialist serves as a member of the health care team with advanced study and training in the physiology and management of lactation. The Lactation Education Specialist provides support and education to breastfeeding families, staff and other health care providers in all areas of lactation management. The overall goal of the Lactation Education Specialist, is to enable mothers and families to make informed infant feeding choices, initiate and maintain lactation, overcome obstacles, prevent premature weaning and enhance maternal role satisfaction.

　　QUALIFICATIONS:Current certification as a Breastfeeding Specialist Degree in health related field is preferred.Current BLS Obtain IBLCC certification within 12 months of hire.The above certifications must be maintained in order to work.

　　Must be a self-motivator, autonomous and have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

　　PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.2. Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares.3. Ability to reach overhead.4. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during stressful situations.5. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.6. Ability to move and operate equipment and carry supplies.7. Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
