Job Title: Laboratory Technician I
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Laboratory Technician I to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory operations focused on materials, catalysis, and separations. The role involves synthetic experience with organic and inorganic molecules and materials, utilizing both traditional organic chemistry equipment and higher temperature/pressure equipment. The Laboratory Technician I will be involved in various tasks including synthetic work-up, separations, purifications, temperature treatments with gas flow, and materials characterization techniques.
Responsibilities:
Conduct synthetic work involving organic and inorganic molecules and materials such as organic molecules, zeolites, MOFs, metal oxides, etc.
Utilize traditional organic chemistry equipment and higher temperature/pressure equipment, e.g., autoclaves.
Perform synthetic work-up, separations, purifications, and temperature treatments with gas flow.
Familiarity with molecular and materials characterization techniques, including spectroscopy, XRD, SEM.
Experience in materials formulation, such as spray drying and extrusion.
Knowledge of unit operations for gas phase reactivity or adsorption, e.g., TGA, TPR/TPO, chemisorption, physisorption.
Ensure familiarity with all operational parameters and equipment for each unit, including thermocouples, pressure transducers, heaters, etc.
Conduct analytical testing and submit/inventory samples as needed.
Perform routine maintenance and mechanical work as required.
Maintain a strong safety ethic/awareness; identify potential safety issues and propose solutions.
Possess a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in science with laboratory experience at the college level.
Strong computer skills and ability to adapt to new technologies.
High energy level with the ability to thrive in a multitasking environment.
Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, collaborating with technicians, operators, and researchers.
Work effectively with researchers, operations team members, maintenance personnel, etc.
Uphold extremely high work standards.
Ensure quality by meticulously following both standard and job-specific procedures.
Maintain strict compliance with quality standards, including accurate records, measurements, calibrations, etc.
Flexibility to move between laboratory and pilot plant assignments, including shift work as business needs dictate.
Troubleshooting experience and ability to problem-solve effectively.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Chemistry or 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
Strong computer skills.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong safety ethic and awareness.
Ability to work in a high-energy, multitasking environment.
