THE POSITION

The Keystone State Challenge Academy (KSCA) is the newest National Guard Bureau Youth ChalleNGe academy being established, providing a voluntary, residential, military-like, alternative education option for Pennsylvania’s youth ages 16-18 seeking a high school diploma or equivalency.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Dormitory Counselor Supervisor (Senior Team Leader, or STL), you will serve as a shift supervisor for the Team Leaders (TLs) who interact with Cadets in residence at the KSCA. You will direct the work and activities of your team to ensure that the experiential and recreational programs, community service programs, and off-site work projects are completed in accordance with the KSCA philosophy, policies, and procedures. You will apply military principles and practices of guiding and training youth while exercising responsibility for the daily activities of Cadets in an assigned team.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours include an irregular schedule. 24/7 coverage flexibility needed, alternating hours including occasional weekends.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Dormitory Counselor; or
Four years of experience in the care, custody, training, supervision, leadership, and personal guidance of children, teenagers, young adults or adults who are deaf or have multiple disabilities in organized educational, recreational, physical, or related programs; and possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that included one (1) year of experience in the care, custody, training, supervision, leadership, and personal guidance of children, teenagers, young adults or adults who are deaf or have multiple disabilities in organized educational, recreational, physical, or related programs.
Additional Requirements:
You must possess a Class C Driver's License.
You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap. You must maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Working knowledge of military customs and courtesies and drill and ceremony
Ability to conduct physical training with Cadets
Knowledge of at-risk teenage population
Legal Requirements:

All employees of the KSCA will be required to have background checks equivalent to anyone working in a school that may have direct contact with students.
