Description/Job Summary
The Knowledge Management Lawyer (KML) for Registered Funds is responsible for helping to develop the group's knowledge strategy and implementing projects to meet the group's knowledge needs. With the support of the Knowledge Department, this role develops best practices to increase effectiveness and efficiency within the practice group and works closely on a day-to-day basis with attorneys to ensure adoption. The KML will leverage their legal expertise and understanding of the needs of practicing attorneys to create and organize research materials, standard forms, model documents, matter profiles, other data compilations, substantive know-how and precedents. This role is also responsible for active thought leadership and business development by monitoring and sharing market developments, and trends in the law or business environment, identifying areas to develop for both the group and new and existing clients.
Additionally, the KML works with practice group leadership to ensure operational efficiency and to support the practice group's operations, including analysis of practice group financial performance, matter management, support of key client initiatives and other related areas.
Responsibilities/Duties
Knowledge Strategy
Coordinate with the Knowledge Department and practice group attorneys to develop and implement solutions and best practices to increase efficiency in the practice group
Coordinate with the Data Analytics and Practice Technology and Innovation teams to evaluate and pilot legal technology, artificial intelligence applications, and client-facing applications that enhance the delivery of legal services
Knowledge Resources & Practice Intelligence
Develop, organize and maintain forms, precedents, checklists, data points, and other work product and substantive know-how for the practice group; ensure such content is continuously up-to-date and leveraged by attorneys
Work with attorneys to ensure matter profiles capturing matter descriptions and transaction details are completed timely in a timely fashion in the matter profiling system
Assist with setting up a process for producing closing binders and collecting valuable precedent information; periodically review transaction information, highlight trends and make recommendations for template form changes, refined procedural focal points and negotiating positions
Practice Management
Support practice group leadership with practice group operations including resource planning/staffing, talent management, pricing and matter management, client initiatives, group meetings and retreats and other related areas
Identify opportunities for improvement, innovation and efficiency in practice group operations and develop solutions and action plans
Collaborate with Finance to analyze and report on key performance indicators, make recommendations for appropriate actions to improve group financial performance, monitor progress and execute on related action items
Monitor and inform the group of important legal and market developments; supporting the writing and publication of external client alerts on such developments
Assist in identifying issues and developments of relevance to key clients
Author and publish research on legal developments or new areas of law relevant to the group
Business Development
Lead practice-driven business development initiatives, including preparation of materials for pitches and client presentations
Coordinate requests between partners and business development in compiling research on existing or prospective clients
Monitor and disseminate information relating to client preferences and compliance protocols, including updates and changes into transaction templates, forms, due diligence forms, and transaction guides
Training & Mentorship
Work with firm's Legal Training and Development team to identify practice-related training needs of the group: develop and deliver group training, materials, workshop sessions, seminars, and CLE programs targeted towards attorneys
Mentor associates by providing them with best practices and assisting them with locating practice-related knowledge resources and documents.
Be a source of legal, market, and practical expertise for all members of the group, including providing direct support for client matters
Collaboration
Collaborate and coordinate efforts with the Investment Funds and Regulatory Funds KMLs to ensure seamless support for the Firm's Funds practice
Coordinate with other support groups and departments of the Firm to improve content, procedures and communications to stream-line processes and satisfy various departmental needs
Provide other knowledge support to the practice group as may be assigned by the Practice Group Head, Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer or Knowledge Management Director
Required Skills

Salary Information
The estimated base salary range for this position is $265k to $310k at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
