Our faith-based out-of-school program is geared toward reaching elementary students. We offer a hot meal, Bible and Life-skill Lessons, Homework Assistance, and Fun Stations (computers, art, and games).EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:High School diploma or GED requiredBi-lingual in Spanish preferredIn accordance with the TSA Substance Abuse Policy and Drug-Free Workplace policy-non-use of any substance, including alcohol or any drug, which might affect the health, safety, or well-being of a client, the public, other workers, and self while on the job or on Salvation Army premises.Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including the ability to pass a TSA background checkDRIVER EXPERIENCE:Current, valid Washington State driver's license and ability to pass TSA MVR check and in-house driving test.This position requires that the employee be at least 21 years old and have a current, valid Washington State driver's license and ability to pass TSA MVR check and in-house driving test.Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including the ability to pass a TSA background check.SCOPE OF POSITION:Provide oversight, leadership, and direction in the Kid's Cafe Program, working under the supervisory leadership of the Corps Officers and Corps Assistant. Basic duties include planning and implementation of Kids Cafe programming, including but not limited to tutoring, developing enrichment programs, mentorship, and acting as parent liaison. Additionally, ensure the safety of programs and cleanliness of all Kids Cafe areas.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Create and implement program activities to meet the needs of each individual child, with concern for handicaps, talents, individual style and pace of learning, cultural and social economics backgrounds, and treat each child with respect, dignity, and individual concern. Assist students with corps programming, not limited to troops, music programs, etc.Submit requests for materials, supplies, and equipment as needed to the supervisor well in advance.Assist with handling Kids Cafe program fees and turn them into the office for processing, including collecting payments, writing receipts, and creating and maintaining file records. Assist, plan, and lead child gradations, musicals, parties, and other events. Attend staff meetings and in-house training or conferences designed to enhance professional growth and development as directed.Transportation:Be responsible for driving The Salvation Army's Vehicles, carrying out the necessary vehicle checks, and maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle. As needed, will be responsible for transporting children safely while enforcing vehicle rules for the children.Procedures:Help to keep the facility organized and clean with general pick up of craft supplies and games.
