Junior R Programmer
Real-World Evidence and Methods Generation

Join IQVIA as an R programmer and help us deliver high‑quality statistical scientific research to our clients in the global pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
Our goal is to contribute to the body of scientific evidence that allows medical practitioners to treat patients in the most effective way, and health systems to include as many patients as possible. We use data, collected for clinical and other purposes to answer research questions such as "which treatment works best in the real world, beyond the clinical trial setting?" Your primary responsibilities will be wide ranging, but will involve:
Extract, clean, investigate, prepare, analyse and report real-world data according to statistical analysis plans and programming specifications using R.
Develop and document data science methods and algorithms
Contribute to and support the ongoing maintenance and development of a centralized library of R packages and Shiny applications within a best practice software engineering framework
Contribute to improving operational efficiencies of workflows, including development of automated process and internal guidance documents
Implement quality control procedures
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have:
Qualification(s) in Software engineering, Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics or other Scientific or qualitative degree
Experience in programming
A proactive, creative, innovative and pragmatic approach to problem solving and an ability to think critically and independently
Ability to achieve results within a multi-cultural and geographically diverse team in a fast-paced, changing environment
Flexible and adaptable in a client focused, results driven environment
Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills (in English)
Preferred Qualities
Programming experience in R or Python
Experience with version control software such as Git
Experience building or applying statistical models
Experience designing and executing prospective or retrospective database studies
Prior experience working in a consultancy or other service sector in the healthcare industry
Experience in producing data visualisations to communicate analysis results
