Job Summary:
The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Project Coordinator for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Core. This full-time staff position will support The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect/Section of Child Abuse and Neglect.
As this position reports directly to the Director of JEDI, the Director will be responsible for oversight and managerial responsibility in integrating and coordinating all the Center's JEDI-related activities.
The Project Coordinator will assist the Director in building anti-oppressive programs and practices internal and external to the Center to advance further just and equitable systems and institutions that serve children and families. This work will be a space for grounded, heart-centered practices in anti-racism and anti-oppression that facilitate a decolonized approach to structural change within the systems and institutions.
The Project Coordinator will be firmly committed to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion and whose professional and personal experiences reflect these commitments. Anti-racism and anti-oppression work is relational and requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. The Project Coordinator must be attentive to the historical roots of racism and oppression in the U.S. and globally and the connection to contemporary manifestations of racism and oppression within systems and institutions. This foundational knowledge is critical for advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion and understanding the multiple dimensions of diversity, including race, ethnicity, culture, class, socioeconomic status, religion, age, disability, gender, nationality, sexual identity, and sexual orientation.
The Project Coordinator will work closely with the JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) Director and other program leaders to support comprehensive JEDI initiatives and projects that forward the JEDI strategy at the Kempe Center. In this role, you will provide organizational oversight in partnership with program leaders and key stakeholders to achieve program goals and objectives. Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating logistics of JEDI learning activities and participating in the development learning opportunities that advance JEDI awareness and change. You will also project manage the advancement of JEDI strategic goals in partnership with the JEDI Director. This will include organization management, program/project scheduling, and team member coordination to keep strategic goals on track. The Program Coordinator will partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programs operate efficiently and effectively to deliver the highest impact for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Serves as a critical point of contact for the JEDI Director while supporting assigned operational and/or strategic JEDI project(s), goals, and planning; contributes to and engages in strategic discussions as an active team member.
Collaborates with the JEDI director and other leaders to ensure that appropriate consideration is given to the current and future needs of an assigned project and to ensure planning issues are resolved and communicated. Keeps accurate records of meetings, decisions, open items, and the resolution of problems.
Liaise with teams across the University and Children's Hospital to share and stay aware of upcoming events to help strengthen relationships and collaborate with Kempe Center programming and projects.
Provide support for in-person and virtual activities from development to implementation: work with the JEDI Director to identify relevant topics, appropriate speakers, and materials needed for a variety of programs and initiatives; research and prepare materials for meetings and presentations; provide support during meetings or learning events to include taking notes, managing breakout rooms, and designing materials. Compile reference and event-related material as needed.
Help develop and curate resources for equipping faculty, staff, and partners to eradicate racism and oppression in their work and personal lives, including offering and updating materials for the website.
Help organize and communicate with members of Affinity Group change teams and facilitate cross-functional planning for adjacencies and efficiencies.
Advocates for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion and acts as an ambassador in all situations internally and outside the organization.
Facilitates decision-making by advocating for operational/strategic JEDI needs and escalating to upline leadership and other team members when necessary.
Provide formatting, proofreading, and style guide support for various work, including web copy, news/magazine stories, invitation text, and story content. Assists with website updates as needed.
Work Location:
Remote – this role is eligible to work remotely, but the employee must be in the United States and may be required to attend occasional Center-wide events.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
Substitution: Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Business, or other related field.
4+ years demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
4+ years of any equivalent combination of lived or work experience, training and/or education which supports understanding the historical roots of racism and oppression in the U.S. and contemporary manifestations of systemic racism and oppression.
2+ years of experience demonstrating a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
2+ years of subject matter experience in social justice issues or diversity, equity, and inclusion in the U.S.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong calendaring, document organization, management, and editing.
Strong development, editing, and proofreading of presentations, reports, surveys, and matrixes.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.

The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as $56,028 to $69,478.
