The company is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer III.
Responsibilities
Position Summary/ Primary PurposeThe Mechanical Engineer reports directly to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor and leads the mechanical design effort of semi-complex Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) - including, but not limited to vehicle system (chassis, powertrain, component packaging) and load handling solutions - with a multidisciplinary development team including electrical, controls, and software disciplines. This position provides support in semi-complex vehicle and system specifications, manufacturing, and appropriate follow-up. This position also participates in continuous improvement recommendations related to products and manufacturing processes, and customer satisfaction.
Major Areas of ResponsibilityReview and interpret customers' project specifications.Translate technical requirements into actual vehicle mechanical specifications, design, and documentation.Define scope of work and description of technical solution.Calculate equipment performance requirements and capabilities.Perform structural design and analysis (FEA), material selection.Create vehicle concept drawings, renderings, and illustrations.Create vehicle detailed design in 3D CAD.Create manufacturing details, 2D build drawings (ASME Y14.5), and Bill of Materials (BOM).Create As-Built drawing packages.Manage budget, schedule, and scope of design.Participate in simulation/emulation as needed.Ensure that the vehicle mechanical components are designed to intended level of function, durability, and cost, with focus on deliverables.Lead troubleshooting of mechanical design and manufacturing difficultiesInvestigate and specify third party components required to meet mechanical specifications.Prepare Request For Quote (RFQ) and specification documentation for equipment and machinery.Write and conduct factory acceptance testsProvide Return On Investment (ROI) assessment for the project(s).Evaluate technical risk of the project(s).Identify and raise any issues/risks that may impact project quality, scope, timing, or cost.Present material handling technical solution to customer and internal teams.Recommend and implement product and process improvement.Broad Knowledge as Follows (Basic/Preferred)English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
