About IR Camera Systems Engineer Early Career / Santa Barbara, CA

  Description: We are looking for a motivated, driven Infrared Camera Systems Engineer capable of leading technical teams in the development of IR sensors.

  The candidate must have excellent presentation skills and strong customer coordination to interface with internal and external customers. The candidate will be responsible for helping shape and develop future products as well as executing in the support of existing products currently in production. The candidate will develop skills in performing EO/IR analysis and modeling to support in the development of system concepts, and to verify designs meet their requirements. This engineer will act as project engineer, or technical lead and will assist senior engineers in planning, monitoring program tasks, tracking schedules, budgets, and earned value. This engineer will directly interface with customers, engineers and technicians in mechanical, electrical, and optical tasks required for program performance.

  The Infrared Camera Systems Engineer will also perform system debugging, troubleshooting, and provide technical direction and support to production operations.

  The Locale: Goleta is a city in southern Santa Barbara County, California. Goleta is part of the central coast region of California and offers lots of great scenery and is a great place to live and to raise a family. The region is known primarily for agriculture and tourism. Major crops include wine grapes, lettuce, strawberries, and artichokes. Goleta is near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus. Much of Goleta is considered to be a quiet suburban community while Santa Barbara tends to attract most of the tourists and the area's residents. Goleta is about 8 miles west of the city of Santa Barbara, along the coast (the coast runs east to west in this portion of southern California). Where can you drive to from Goleta? Goleta is 2 hours northwest of Los Angeles. San Francisco is about 5 hours to the north of Goleta. Las Vegas, NV is about 5 hours to the northeast.

  Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an engineering, mathematics, physics, or science field.

  • Engineering or Physics background.

  • Excellent presentation and written communications skills.

  • Ability to lead technical teams to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.

  • Basic understanding of infrared sensor systems and supporting, mechanical, and optical systems.

  • Experience troubleshooting and performing failure analysis of sophisticated hardware.

  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance, must be a US Citizen.

  Desired Skills:

  • Master’s degree or PhD from an accredited college in related discipline

  • Strong customer coordination experience

  • Experience with IR camera systems

  • Understanding of FPA manufacturing technologies

  • Closed cycle cryogenic systems.

  • Vacuum packaging

  • MATLAB programming expertise

  • Transition of high technology product from Development to Production

  • Radiometric testing and analysis of IR systems or sensors

  • Familiar with high vacuum and ESD handling requirements

  • background or familiarity with electronics and equipment related to infrared video collection, analysis, and test

  • Understanding of reliability engineering and 6 sigma principles.

  Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

  Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

  Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

  Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

  Pay Rate:

  The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $47,800 - $91,500 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

  Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.

  (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

  This position is incentive plan eligible.

  Pay Rate:

  The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $84,500 - $159,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
