  Job Description

  The Holland America Summer Internship Program is a 10-week paid (remote) summer internship opportunity designed to provide exposure and insight to professional careers in the amazing leisure travel, cruise industry. The selected interns will work on departmental projects as well as participate in professional development and enrichment activities.

  2024 Program Dates (two options)

  Program runs 10 weeks from June 10th - August 16th or June 17th - August 23rd.Eligibility

  Eligible candidates are enrolled in a four-year accredited undergraduate program (where they are at least a rising junior) and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  MUST NOT be a graduating senior in the summer 2024.

  Compensation

  Undergraduate - $25.00/hrIntern Opportunity - Guest Experience & Product Development

  We are seeking a dynamic summer intern to support two key teams (Entertainment & Talent Acquisition) within the Guest Experience & Production Development department, dedicating equal focus to each. On one side, they will conduct a comprehensive audit of our new hire journey, from initial engagement on our careers page through onboarding, identifying areas for enhancement in our talent acquisition process and gathering vital feedback from recent hires. Concurrently, they will assist our Entertainment Operations and Cruise Programming teams in developing a robust inventory system, working on cataloging entertainment-related goods, analyzing procurement data, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process optimization. This dual-role internship is designed to streamline our hiring experience and improve operational efficiency, making a significant impact on both talent management and entertainment purchasing and shipboard inventory management.

  Audit the Shipboard New-hire Experience by reviewing the entire process from the candidate’s perspective to identify specific ways to improve and ease the journey.

  Gather Feedback from Recent Hires by interviewing new employees to collect detailed feedback about their experiences with the application, hiring, and onboarding processes.

  Create Objectives Steps to Improve Talent Acquisition after analyzing and auditing the experience by pinpointing exactly which steps and areas can be made more seamless and effective (website, interviews, onboarding, etc.)

  Develop an Inventory System for Entertainment by collaborating with the Operations and Cruise Programming teams to identify an approved master item list by category of entertainment-related goods, ensuring the production information is correct and par stock levels by ship are set.

  Analyze Procurement and Transaction Data for Entertainment by reviewing the previous year’s records to identify gaps, risks, inconsistencies, patterns, and other anomalies.

  Assess and Recommend Cost-Saving Measures based on the analysis and suggest potential areas for cost reduction, further analysis, and/or new solutions.

  Support the Entertainment Operations and Cruise Programming teams in building automations to improve tracking of inventory and new order initiations.

  Requirements

  Proficiency using MS office Suite including Outlook & MS Teams

  Ability to work independently, remotely and self-manage

  Well organized and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and managers.

  The types of duties the students will perform will vary and may require some technical tasks, projects and/or work that may require specific proficiencies, technical abilities and/or computer skills.

  Majors Preferred

  Business Administration or Management, Human Resources Management, Data Analysis or Statistics, Communications, Supply Chain Management or LogisticsSkills Preferred

  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

  Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  Ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.

  Ability to be empathetic and understanding of others’ experiences, especially when navigating the candidate experience as someone from another country, speaking non-English languages and imaging themselves in the journey to employment at Holland America Line.
