Brief Description
The Logistics Specialist I is responsible for:
Coordinating international shipments from order placement to delivery, serving as the liaison to all involved parties.
Processing required documentation and managing time sensitive information to ensure seamless transactions and an enhanced customer experience.
Investigating and resolving international logistics issues.
Managing assigned region shipping requirements and exceptions.
Participating in limited complexity international logistics project initiatives.
Specific Duties
Primary duties and responsibilities of the Logistics Specialist I :
Coordinate all international and domestic shipping in accordance with US export laws and country specific import laws.
Manage country, customer and program requirements using multiple business platforms.
Assist our Customer Support, International Market Development, Laboratory Accreditation, Purchasing, Quality, and Proficiency Testing departments with customer facing logistics issues.
Support new customers, distributors, and international contract groups with on-boarding for PT and LAP programs.
Interact directly with customers, packagers, carriers, brokers, and customs officials as needed to resolve issues.
Main contact for assigned international gold/contract customers. Manage the shipping process for bulk distributors and agreements as needed.
Work on cross-divisional international logistics focused projects of limited complexity in a supporting role, to gain exposure to the complex tasks within international logistics and trade compliance.
Create and manage international shipping documents which require consignee and shipment specific information, including but not limited to: Certificate of Origin (COO), Manufacturer’s Declaration (MD), Non-Hazardous Letters (NHL), and obtain appropriate stamps, signatures and authorizations.
Lead small departmental process improvement projects and communicate project work, deadlines, and set clear expectations on team roles and responsibilities.
Coordinate market holidays and service disruptions with packagers, clients and key CAP stakeholders.
Coordinate shipments sent via freight forwarders and distributors.
Coordinate the use of alternate shipping based on cost, service levels, and transit.
Responsible for the movement of Proficiency Testing (PT) material in/out of the country in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Monitor reports for shipments in distress, and work with customs officials to obtain shipment release.
Investigate and recommend corrective actions for all non-conformances.
Interact with Customs and Border Protection if necessary.
Assist customers and carriers with product shipment resolution
Investigate transit delays, viability/stability of product and cold chain needs.
Work with carriers, distributors, and customers to determine the right ship day, service lane, and carrier to improve or maintain an acceptable time in transit to end destination.
Pilot shipment-coordination (stability/viability concerns)
Partner with Logistics Operations and Compliance Specialists & Packagers to coordinate and modify shipping data.
Partner with Packagers, PT, LAP, Contact Center, Purchasing, Marketing and CDM staff to perform additional functions as needed to support the department, division, and the CAP.
Collaborate with internal and external partners as necessary to support the customer and help resolve any shipping issues or concerns.
Coordinate pilot shipments with carriers to test lane capabilities and/or material stability.
Partner with Logistics Operations and Compliance Specialist and packagers to manage shipment cancellations/changes, shipping documentation updates, shipment troubleshooting, etc.
Utilize appropriate databases such as Tableau, UPS In Transit Dashboard, and other reports to proactively analyze, identify and troubleshoot logistical issues and make improvement recommendations.
Analyze and determine specimen viability / integrity based on ILS available resources / tools. (i.e. Product Dashboard, Kit Instructions, Must arrive frozen report, TAT, CP/AM report)
Educate oneself on region to better understand business and cultural work ethics in order build a better business relationship based on mutual understanding.
Attend regular meetings with carriers, internal partners, and customers to offer support and contribute as needed
Serve as liaison to communicate errors and resolutions identified in the ordering process
Draft and share formal communications regarding shipment issues upon request from distributors.
Support the Logistics Supervisor as needed.

Education & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years in a customer support role.
A minimum of 2 years relevant experience, preferably in package management or trade compliance.
Able to apply both knowledge and experience to effectively implement solutions.
Related certifications:
Division 6.2 Dangerous Goods certification of training preferred.
