Your Opportunity
The role of an Intermediate Transportation CAD Technician / Technologist is to work as a team member on small and large projects under close guidance and supervision. Work will include performing a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the plans for bridges, railroads, roads, airports, and other projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Prepares construction designs/drawings on small, medium, and large size projects using computer-aided drafting programs.
Provide CAD drafting assistance for a wide variety of projects, from report stage through design and construction administration.
Works closely with engineers, project managers and other team members to ensure coordination of drafting effort.
Prepare functional, preliminary, and detailed design drawings, presentation materials for bridges, rural/urban roads, interchanges, intersections, and rail.
Adheres to the corporate guidelines and applies them in their work.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to work with others on small, medium, and large size projects
Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
Demonstrated ability to understand and maintain CAD standards
Takes initiative on tasks
Working knowledge of software programs including AutoCAD, and Civil 3D. Working knowledge of Bentley products, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads and REVIT would be a desirable asset but not necessary.
Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Working knowledge of Bluebeam would be a desirable asset.
Working knowledge of basic engineering calculations
Basic understanding of roadway design principles and concepts would be a desirable asset
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Able to work under and meet tight deadlines
Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5-10 years of experience.
Position will primarily be in an office environment.
