West Texas A&M University is seeking applicants for a full-time instructor of political science, beginning Fall 2023. The successful candidate will teach a 5/5 load consisting primarily of introductory courses: American national government and American state and local government (Texas government). The successful candidate may also have the option of teaching one upper-division course in their area of specialization when class demand permits. Instructors engage in service to the university and will advise students in the political science major.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to create and deliver a quality curriculum for students for a wide range of students. The position is open until filled.
Work Performed:
Responsibilities include teaching introductory government courses, with a teaching load of 5/5; in addition, the successful candidate must engage in advising and service.
Necessary Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Political Science or Public Administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants with a terminal degree in Political Science and/or teaching experience in both face-to-face and online formats are preferred. Additionally, applicants with the experience and/or ability to effectively engage with first-generation and underrepresented minority students are strongly preferred.
