The School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (
SHAHS), within the College of Health and Human Services (
CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (
UNCW), seeks an outstanding colleague for a 9-month, full time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor of Practice, Assistant Professor of Practice, or Associate Professor of Practice in the School's Master of Healthcare Administration program beginning August 2024.Rank at appointment is dependent on qualifications relative to University and College standards. Practice Track faculty are initially appointed on a contract of 3-years, renewable based on performance. Practice Track faculty are eligible to apply for promotion to higher Practice Track ranks. The successful candidate will become one of ten Healthcare Administration faculty members serving approximately 450 graduate Healthcare Administration majors, have a wide-ranging Healthcare Administration background, and be able to teach a variety of graduate-level courses. Moreover, depending on rank and yearly workload allocation, the successful candidate may conduct research, publish articles, write grants, mentor students, and provide community engagement and service to the program, school, college, university, and profession.The possibility to work remotely from an approved location in the United States is determined upon mutual agreement with hiring academic unit and appropriate administrative approvals. The availability of remote work arrangements varies by division, academic unit, and position, based upon the academic program needs and operational needs. The duration of any remote work arrangement is at the discretion of the university and the hiring academic unit.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must have the following qualifications:All candidates must be able to provide evidence of previous successful teaching experience in a Healthcare Administration program in higher education.For Instructor of Practice - A master's degree and licensure/certifications OR a master's degree and exceptional professional experience. Master's degree must be in Healthcare Administration/Management, or Business Administration/Management (with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to Healthcare Administration/Management), Health Services Management, or a related field from a regionally accredited program.For Assistant Professor of Practice /Associate Professor of Practice - Doctoral degree OR a master's degree, appropriate licensures and certification, exceptional professional experiences, and exceptional circumstances. Earned doctoral degree must be in Healthcare Administration/Management, or Business Administration/Management (with a master's degree and/or at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to Healthcare Administration/Management), Health Services Management, or a related field from a regionally accredited program.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Preference will be given to candidates who have the following qualifications:
Evidence of successful online teaching experience (preferably in an accelerated program).Recognized accomplishment in teaching and the scholarship of teaching related to the position.Experience withCAHME accreditation standards and competency-based education.Two or more years experience in the Healthcare field noting recognized accomplishments.Relevant licenses/certifications (i.e.,CPA,FACHE,FACMPE) in the Healthcare field.Active membership in professional societies (i.e.,AUPHA,MGMA,ACHE,NAHSE).Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with constituents across the College and University and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.Ability to work in an electronic paperless environment utilizing multiple digital platforms and applications (i.e., learning management systems, assessment platforms, audio visual platforms, file management software, and social media) to complete work functions.Required Certifications or Licensure

The Master of Healthcare Administration (
MHA) program is housed in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (
SHAHS) within the College of Health and Human Services (

MHA curriculum is a 100% online accelerated program (
OAP) that prepares graduates for administrative roles in healthcare settings.The roles and responsibilities of the successful candidate will reflect a strong commitment to professional practice, community, and regional engagement and impact activities, and applied scholarship related to professional practice.The Healthcare Administration program is housed within the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (
