SUNY Empire seeks a versatile Instructional Technologist (State Title: Instructional Support Technician) to provide their expertise in the development, revision of online courses and support the use of technology to enhance learning for SUNY Empire. This role will provide on-demand instructional technology and design consultation, guidance, and support to faculty using current research-driven learning design principles, instructional technologies, and best practices. The person in this role will provide training and support on a range of concepts, including but not limited to accessibility, assessment, copyright, and open educational resources (OERs) to faculty and students. This role will also include development of training materials and resources. The Instructional Technologists will collaborate with a team of subject matter experts, instructional technologists, librarians, multimedia designers, and other instructional designers, and follow the established project management processes.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Instructional Technology or Design, Educational Technology, Web Design and Development, or a related field.
A minimum of one year experience in instructional technology, educational technology, instructional design, or a related educational field.
Outstanding communication and technical writing skills.
Experience working in team-based, diverse environments.
Organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Experience with Course/Learning Management Systems, Brightspace preferred.
Knowledge of OSCQR, Quality Matters, or other online course standards.
Experience developing training materials and facilitating virtual training sessions.
Understanding of ADA compliance and accessibility.
Basic knowledge of HTML markup language and CSS.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years working directly with faculty from higher education.
Experience with various Learning Management Systems.
Experience supporting third-party tools, such as VoiceThread, MS Teams, video platforms, and textbook integrations.
Two or more years working directly with faculty from higher education in the development and revision of online courses.
Experience providing instructional design support in a large scale, high volume distributed environment.
Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
Experience developing multimedia resources.
Special Information:
Occasional travel may be required.

Additional Information:
Rank/Salary: SL3 / $53,500-$55,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
