A Brief OverviewPositioned at the core of one of the country's foremost children's hospitals, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's (CHOP's) rapidly growing general pediatric hospitalist program offers tremendous depth and breadth of clinical activities.
We are seeking full-time and per diem hospitalists to act as front-line clinicians under the guidance of an attending physician in many subspecialty departments. These individuals will care for patients with a wide range of disease processes and acuity levels being treated within CHOP's inpatient departments:Cardiac Intensive Care-Cardiac Care (step-down)Emergency MedicineNeonatal Intensive CareOncologyPediatric Intensive CareMedical subspecialties including Gastroenterology and Adolescent Medicine
This role is a wonderful opportunity for residents who are considering fellowship training or contemplating a career in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Physicians in this role will work alongside leaders in Pediatric Subspecialty Care across many disciplines and will be integral members of the multidisciplinary team. Many educational opportunities will be embedded into the clinical year, as well as a formalized mentorship program matching early-career physicians with subspecialists at the forefront of clinical and laboratory advancement in their fields. We encourage applications from residents graduating from academic hospitals or community hospitals who are seeking additional exposure to subspecialty care in a quaternary care center that cares for patients with high complexity and acuity.

We seek to support a strong, life-long career trajectory for our hospitalists through formal mentorship, active involvement in a vibrant community of over 70 pediatric hospitalists, as well as identification of opportunities for individuals to focus on areas of particular interests. We have flexible scheduling with openings for mixed day/night work, nocturnists, and weekendists as well as either part- or full-time positions.
What you will doDirect Clinical ActivitiesProvide direct patient care to hospitalized childrenDiagnose and treat common inpatient pediatric conditionsComplete thorough and timely medical documentation in the EHR (Epic)Triage urgent changes in patient's clinical status and utilize rapid response team or pediatric code team when necessaryProvide general pediatric consultation to other services including surgeryMay supervise clinical providers including medical students, resident physicians Advanced Practice Providers and provide performance feedback in all aspects of clinical functionsEducati nal Activities (if indicated)May provide support and leadership for resident/medical student/Advanced Practice Provider education curriculum and program implementationResearch Activities (if indicated)May participate in scholarship activities within the Section of Hospital Medicine. These include but are not limited to:o Quality improvement projects, including clinical pathway design committeeso Research projects in PHMAdministrative Activities (if indicated)Other Duties as Assigned.Education QualificationsDoctorate Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine RequiredSkills and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of hospital policies, practices, and protocols as well as applicable regulations and guidelines.
