  1901 Group (A Leidos Company) has an exciting Innovation Lead position located in Blacksburg, VA with opportunities to work remotely. The Innovation Lead will work with an elite team of IT professionals to drive innovation for a cloud architecture and environment for critical customer systems. The Innovation Lead is responsible for driving efficiencies and ultimately cost savings for the AWS cloud-based systems while ensuring maximum availability, performance, and security for our DoD customer.

  POSITION SUMMARY:

  The Innovation Lead is responsible for working with the teams (Infrastructure, Development and Security) to identify and execute innovation opportunities while also providing overall technical direction and vision to our DOD customer in support of their ERP systems.

  PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with all teams and customers to drive identification of innovation opportunities related to advancement of the cloud hosted systems.

  • Once opportunities identified and vetted, lead the development of proposals to include project and technical plans with estimated costs to submit to the government for review and approval.

  • Provide guidance and future roadmaps with respect to new AWS services and emerging cloud frameworks.

  • Identify areas for improvement with existing tool-sets to include integration opportunities for improved capabilities and effectiveness.

  • Identify automation capabilities and lead related initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and gaining operational efficiencies.

  • Support related designs, implementation plans, operational documentation, and continual improvement of cloud services.

  • Use health and performance KPIs and operational trends for proactive identification of opportunities for improvements, efficiencies, and cost savings.

  • Oversee and manage innovation projects serving as a liaison between program management, customer teams, team leads and other stakeholders.

  • Develop and present reports and presentations relating to services and projects.

  • Support creative problem solving with customer and operations.

  BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in related IT experience with 4+ years of AWS Cloud services experience. Additional years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II baseline certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)

  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, VPCs, IAM, ALB, ELB, security groups and an overall understanding of AWS cloud management

  • SME level understanding of designs and standards for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of cloud infrastructure systems in a DOD environment.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform and Ansible

  • Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) for systems

  • Cloud Architecting experience with knowledge of Linux and Windows systems

  • Operates well with a team and independently, with good judgment and little need for supervision.

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making ability

  • Detail oriented with experience interacting with customers

  • Proficient in creating technical documentation and diagrams

  • US Citizen

  CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

  DoD Secret clearance is required prior to start (Interim Secret clearance is acceptable)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting a DoD customer

  • Strong experience with programming and infrastructure automation (BASH)

  • Experience in transitioning large, complex applications from data centers to the AWS cloud for Development, Test, and Production environments

  • AWS Associate or Professional certification

  • Familiarity or hands-on experiences with CloudFormation and Lambda Proficiency and experience with AWS developer tools and workflows (AWSCLI, CloudFormation, etc.)

  • Experience with programming and infrastructure automation (JSON, YAML, Python, Terraform)

  • Other industry certifications a plus

  Pay Range:

  Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00

  The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
