　　Position Summary

　　The Michigan Twins Neurogenetics Study (MTwiNS) at Michigan State University is seeking a full‐time Informational and Statistical Analyst to oversee all data analyses for the MTwiNS project. MTwiNS is a large‐scale research study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD) that examines neural responses to neighborhood disadvantage, the origins of that association, and its consequences for child and adolescent outcomes. The Informational and Statistical Analyst will work independently to develop procedures for database management, preparation and clean of data files, integrate data files, create and update summary files, and lead data management and analysis activities. General responsibilities will include: monitoring data collection for the project; developing and maintaining the databases used to store the large amount of collected data; updating, merging, cleaning, and scoring study data on a regular basis; assisting with data extraction and compilation; analyzing study data for research paper and grant applications; training and supervising graduate and undergraduate research assistants on data management procedures; and consulting with project staff.

　　Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

　　Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business , Statistics or Mathematics with relevant course work in computer programming; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in programming, database management or data collection; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

　　Desired Qualifications

　　Master's degree or Ph.D. in related discipline, including Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a social science field with a research emphasis. Someone with experience and training in setting up and leading data management procedures. Proficiency with multiple regression techniques for a variety of dependent variable distributions (e.g., count variables, etc.). Experience with computer programming, data analysis, and database administration in an academic research setting; data programming skills; familiarity with database management systems (e.g., Microsoft Excel and Access); version control (e.g., github) strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

　　Experience using statistical language (SPSS required, additional Mplus or R skills strongly preferred).
