Job Description Summary
The Information Security Engineer - IAM is responsible for the implementation, execution and maintenance of technology solutions to mitigate risk and drive business results. Provides thought leadership to small-midsized projects. Solves a range of problems applying standard operating procedures.
The Information Security Engineer - IAM will support the Information Security needs of Thrivent Financial in order to continually support and improve the controls and security posture within our Information Technology environment.
The Information Security Engineer - IAM is responsible for the engineering and development function supporting the creation and maintenance of one or more services within Thrivent’s Information Security Program along with the associated architecture and standards that deliver enterprise-wide Information Security services for internal and external customers.
The Information Security Engineer - IAM provides subject matter expertise on one or more services within assigned Information Security Program architecture, protocols, processes, and governance and is responsible for the technical implementation and support of all aspects within assigned Information Security Program functions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
GENERAL
Work independently under the direction of a more senior staff member or manager
Demonstrate deep expertise within assigned assets, information domains, technologies & platforms
Provide thought leadership to small-to-medium sized efforts
Solves a range of problems using existing process and solutions
Understand and apply standard operating procedures and standards to implement and maintain assigned assets, technology or platform
Successfully deliver the right results on initiatives in a timely and effective manner
Mitigate risk within assigned assets, technologies or platforms
Communicate within IT and with assigned business area to drive successful execution and maintenance of solutions
SPECIFIC
Understand and apply Thrivent Information Security Policies, standards, and processes to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability to Thrivent information and information systems.
Support assigned security technologies in accordance with Thrivent security policies, standards, and SOP’s
Provide assistance with other deployed security technologies and support team members
Support regulatory examinations and internal audits as needed
Provide on-call support in support of assigned Information Security deployed technologies
Ability to understand potential cyber threats and respond appropriately across all IT services, technologies and processes

Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information security, business, mathematics or related field
3+ years of applicable experience

Provide leadership and technical guidance to Architects.
Architecture Implementation
Lead effort to implement overall architecture approach for all layers of a solution.
Lead effort to ensure that enterprise architecture standards, policies, and procedures are enacted uniformly across application development projects and programs.
Review the deliverables throughout the development cycle to ensure quality and traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans and standards.
Architecture Analysis and Consultation
Lead effort to review and provide input on proposals from an architectural perspective, including feasibility, practicality, technical viability, and consistency.
Assess and recommend infrastructure and application solutions for upgrades to meet business needs.
Architecture Support
Develop strong knowledge base in particular domain.
Lead effort to support lines of business, and support staff and technology areas who are implementing projects that impact the architecture.

Required Job Qualifications
Required experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information security, business, mathematics or related field
MBA, Advanced degree or equivalent preferred
Information Security Certification required and in good standing, preferably CISSP
8+ years of applicable experience
Demonstrated contribution on large scale projects impacting strategic priorities with a focus on Identity and Access Management
