UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Flex Full Time Dietetic Technician to support the NICU department!

　　This position will work 8:30am to 5pm with rotating weekends and holidays. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

　　The Dietetic Technician participates as a member of the multidisciplinary Patient Care Team to provide nutrition-related expertise and education to meet the needs of a diverse patient population.

　　Responsibilities:

　　Verifies physician’s orders for patient feedings, and reports any discrepancies to the patient’s nurse, charge nurse, or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

　　Prepares and portions patient feedings accurately per recipe or RDN instruction.

　　Communicates with supervisor and RDNs concerning problems regarding feeding orders, human milk/formula storage and administration.

　　Maintains a sanitary and safe environment by following departmental and infection prevention policies; reports unsafe conditions and accidents to manager.

　　Assists in training other employees in feeding preparation and proper handling techniques as needed.

　　Performs nutrition screening of patients and accurately assess nutrition risk levels per established criteria.

　　· Associate degree in dietetics with internship or BS in Nutrition/Dietetics (must have completed a degree in the dietetics tract) required.

　　· Strong knowledge base of diet and related medical nutrition therapies.

　　Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

　　· For associate degree, CDR required within 3 months of hire. Completion of 5-10 CEU annually/50 CEU every 5 years.

　　· For BS degree, must qualify as DTR registration exam eligible through CDR.

　　· DTR or NDTR required.
