The Implementation Specialist is responsible for the installation and setup of the company’s pharmacy automation products. This will require onsite hardware and software implementation and training of the pharmacy staff. The installation will require physical and technical proficiency with the equipment. Must be willing to work extended and off-hours and be able to travel up to 90% of the time.
Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, have pharmacy workflow experience, and practice in either the long-term care, retail, or acute care pharmacy environment. PC set-up or interface skills are a plus.
Candidates can live anywhere in the United States, if there is access to an airport with commercial flight availability.
Key Responsibilities
Provides consulting assistance and coordination to the pharmacy during the implementation
Installs pharmacy automation and trains pharmacy staff
Works with a project manager to identify tasks and resources for the implementation
Actively participates in the development of pharmacy training tools and instructs staff on the operation of products, both in person and via Webinar
Refines pharmacy implementation plans, tools, and methodology based on lessons learned from each implementation
Performs follow-up evaluations with pharmacies
Skills and Experience
Ability to work with design engineers, pharmacy consultants, and pharmacy personnel to identify equipment layout, system operations, and workflow
Experience leading meetings and updating stakeholders
Well-organized with a proven ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Experience as a pharmacy technician strongly preferred; CPhT credential desired
Practical pharmacy system operations experience:
Expert understanding of processes pertaining to medication administration, documentation, medication order flow, and medication delivery systems
Understanding of the impact of automation systems in the pharmacy environment
Prior computer systems implementation experience - file building, system configuration, integration testing, and personnel training
Extensive experience working with customers

This position may be subject to both outside environmental conditions as well as inside environmental conditions common to a pharmacy location during an installation or maintenance visit.
Work will primarily be in the field involving long-term standing and frequent walking as well as include common hazards maneuvering through pharmacy locations.
Work will also include working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to stand up to 10-12 hours a day on occasion.
Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
Weekend and overtime and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
Travel by car and/or air is required. Travel may consume 10%-90% of the workday.
Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
While COVID-19 precautions are in effect, this role may require use of face masks/face coverings and gloves while working in customer pharmacies.
