  KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools that prepares students for success in college and life. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in The Bronx. Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond - and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students. Today, our New York City network is comprised of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Through College and Career, a comprehensive support program for our alumni. KIPP NYC Public Schools currently serves more than 7000 students and alumni and has a staff of more than 700 and continues to grow!

  Job Description

  The ICT SPED teacher will co-teach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusion classroom setting to support all students in the classroom. The ICT teacher will co-plan and deliver lessons that incorporate multiple learning modalities, adapt and modify instruction, and create strategies and meaningful interventions to support students' learning. KIPP NYC is looking for teachers who combine the ability to motivate and educate, to develop academic as well as character skills, and to make a college preparatory education relevant both now and for the future.

  General responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  Teaching a rigorous academic curriculum aligned with New York State standardsTeaching students in a high-quality, exciting way Committing to constant professional and personal growth through working closely as part of a team of teachers Constantly assessing student progress, and communicating results to families and colleaguesProviding individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistanceModeling a "whatever it takes" spirit to ensure that each student is successful.Modeling the school's values in all communications with students, families, and staff

  Qualifications

  Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude and a sense of humor.At least two years of teaching experience strongly preferredNew York State teacher certification in Special Education content areaBachelor's degree requiredA passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school cultureA strong desire to become a better teacher by joining the KIPP NYC team and familyDemonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students from the communities KIPP NYC serves

  Additional Information

  Compensation and Benefits:

  KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $69,440 - $142,270 per year. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidate's years of experience, certification, and longevity at point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale.

  KIPP NYC offers a generous benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverages. Other benefits include retirement plan, flexible spending accounts, life insurance and supplemental benefits offerings.
